Sorry, Old Video but a Great One to gain access in car of all the Solenoids, Thank you Master Ernst! I popped a P0756 (1st-2nd stuck closed shift solenoid B) on my 1996 Ford Taurus with Duratec 24V DOHC 3.0, this will be a great guide after a Fluid Flush to help loosen up the intermittent failure, yes it is infrequent. If flush fails will do your excellent method. Again thanks for posting!

Ernest I just fixed my 2001 ford taurus 3.0 OHV your a big help...It wasn't a easy job, first time doing it. Used regular tools took me a day, left car jacked up overnite. The transmission motor mount was the problem, it was a headache trying to get it off and back on using jacks. Followed your instructions then filled the transmission back with 7 quarts mercon V transmission fluid, and checked it with a OBD2 Bosch 1300 scanner, The codes are gone. transmission rides smooth. The part was $77.99 at autozone. Part # TCS21, with the blue tab. You have to be careful and get the correct part. My transmission is a AXOD, the OD means "Overdrive". But the part will fit several cars.

Hey whats up man I seen your comment figured you might know a thing or two about my question. Ya I am getting into the same repair this week. Going after those Solenoids. My question is, was it necessary to drain the transmission fluid before removing the valve body pan or can it be avoided? Also did the Valve body pan require a new gasket or is it a reusable gasket?
@fastfridaysfacts3694
@fastfridaysfacts3694 5 жыл бұрын
You have to drain the transmission fluid first, and the gasket is reuseable.

@@fastfridaysfacts3694 Not for replacing the solenoids you don't have to drain any fluid not on this trans. The side cover is only the valve body cover the bottom cover has the filter inside and no solenoids.

Make sure you first remove the "Upper Transmission Mount" that is behind the alternator, when you get the jack under the engine. You lift up the car, and then put a second jack under the engine. It is shaped like a "Bone". If you don't you will be wrestling with the transmission mount, to get it out. I broke mine, and after I started the job I realized that there isn't really any instructions to do this solenoid replacement, so that will save you a lot of time and $18.99. If you do that the solenoid removal and transmission mount on the other side of the engine will be a lot easier to remove. I also broke some bearings in my alternator, and had to replace it because of the strain on the serpentine belt when I lifted the engine, without removing the "Upper transmission" mount.

Good vid, I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima p0744 code showed up . It was having rough shifting. I drained the ATF(it was dark brown but not metallic and didn’t smell burnt) I used Valvoline max life ATF to refill And 1 bottle of Lucus. What a world of difference . However the same code poped up after 70 miles of driving. My thoughts are the solenoid is sticky. Shift from. 1->2 is happening sometimes at 3500 rpm, but all other shifting seems normal after that. Before the ATF drain and fill and Lucus it was shifting all gears at almost 4-5000 rpms. Going to continue to drive car some for a few hundred miles to let the Lucus continue to work. It’s been getting better shifting the more it is driven after the drain and fill with adding Lucus. If after that light still stays on I may clear it and see if it comes back. Next step may be using sea foam trans fix to clean out things ( add or make room room in transmission) 1 bottle , drive for 1000 miles, drain again and refill with atf and Lucus. Hoping the trans fix cleaned out stuff in transmission If not. The. Trip to local Shop to get solenoid replaced For this car you replace all at the same time And have to open up transmission to get to it. Nissan Part No.: 31940-80X25 SOLENOID REPAIR KIT - CONTROL VALVE About. $77-120 part

Did this job today, start to finish it took about 3hrs not rushing at all. With the car on one jack stand and a floor jack under the corner of the tranny, it helped to change the elevation to access the bolts through the wheel well. The taurus now shifts beautifully, I changed all three shift solenoids at the same time. Many thanks!

Be sure to take off the "Upper Motor Mount" on the passengers side before you jack up the car, mine broke and I had to replace it. That's why I had some problems with taking off the transmission motor mount, do that first and you won't have any problems. That part was $18.99, to replace.

i have a 2000 dodge ram 1500 v8 magnum sport, my check engine light went on so i took it to autozone and the computer brought back a error reading or something saying, "Replace Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid, and the error codes read, P1740 TCM Internal Malfunction. what could this be? Before i had my buddy replace the transmission fluid (no shavings but dark in color) because i guess i accidentally put it in overdrive because the light was on for that and the trans temp light was on too and it started smoking from engine so he fixed it by replacing the trans fluid (very well done btw), i do think it needs just a bit more trans fluid because it very minorly jerks but soon after he did all that this happened. What could this error be that i got from Autozone? Thanks in advance :)

After the repair the PO741 code or other codes should leave. If the light does come back on the dash, it might be still stored in the ecm, and will need to be removed with a ODB scanner or remove them by removing the negative battery cable for 30 minutes, to clear the computer memory. There isn't any good instructions that I now for changing that solenoid that I've seen.

I mean, can I just pop off the pan or bottom cover and swap out the solenoid? OBD is throwing a code for it, and my car keeps going into limp mode, and after months of just resetting (battery), transmission is now starting to slip on 1st,2nd,3rd and car barely goes. If I turn off car and restart, I can go for a mile or so Gears reengage for a while but then start slipping again.
