I prefer a torque wrench with a low profile head. That red box wouldn't even fit into the tight areas I work on.

Try the needle gauge torque wrenches the head is smaller than a ratchet.

Same here I have a torque wrench attachment like that but I also have a low profile torque wrench because the attachment does fit in like 90 percent of places

What I find most cool about those little things is how one can compare calibration with each other. If they are all in line, life is good.

Not a timing chain but an idler pulley, just happened to my 97 outback and this was one of the sounds it made before finally the bearing inside the idler #2 pulley exploded

Classic Ford power steering whine. Actually it's quite normal. Worked for a municipal Fleet of 500 vehicles. We almost exclusively used Ford sedans and Pickups.

Sounds like a high mileage engine to me. You’re gonna need more than sound to chase that issue, my friend.

The best torque wrench is one that's calibrated right and it doesn't come out of spec if it hits the ground or just by using it. Always good if you are in a shop with a few same range torque wrenches to check every so often so you don't get the turning stomach feeling after a 10h job because the manual called for a torque that was less than the elbow torque felt was right and you weren't sure if the tool clicked at the right time.

My autozone duralast 3/8 has seized on numerous occasions and will end up snapping bolts if I’m not paying attention; the entire assembly will get stuck and I can’t even loosen the locking bolt to unwind it. For example on my rear main seal carrier it has four bolts, 6lbs was the setting and it got stuck and I was rushing a little and turned it too much.

I can see these being a pain for a lot of 3/8 applications, but they sell a 3/4 version for $70 when a 3/4 or 1" torque wrench can be up to $500. And, they're surprisingly accurate. So for semis or heavy duty techs they make more sense.

I went to home depot. Spent about $80 on a 1/2" drive. Love it. I prefer the micrometer type, with the lock sleeve ring. You can also purchase a torque wrench check tool. If you're ever uncertain if the torque wrench is accurate.
