Torrance man has close encounter with rare whale shark off California coast

Once, I was on a tour boat heading to the Isles of Shoals, when a whale shark headed towards the boat. I'd never seen one before. It was huge and swam under the boat. I never saw such a large animal and held my breath ( not literally) until it showed up on the other side of us.

Been pumping El Niño for months now. Cold weather and rain expected this week and water is cold. Low 60s which is normal for this time of year off of HB. Fact is they shut down San Onofre, and the power plants in SoCal do not use sea water as a coolant anymore so the water is a lot colder than it used to be.
