Hola Jack!! It was such a pleasure being there in a city so unique to Mexico! I had never experienced anything quite like it (usually most places I go are overrun by thousands of international tourists). I like how Torreón is still very much the Mexico I envisioned when I was a teenager dreaming about visiting Mexico in the early 2000s; untouched by Gringos and 100% pure Mexican, food to die for and friendly people👌😍.

Great video again Finn, the drone shots are ace! Love the shades, very Johnny Depp in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas 😎 the town looks really cool, really interesting, the food, as always in all your videos, looked amazing 🤤 and the Ghostbuster Car was vintage stuff….a classic for sure….keep them coming my good man….✌️ Oh and ads playing thought the video 👌🤑
@FinnDelMundoTravel3 жыл бұрын
Hey C&S!! Thanks for watching. I just Google searched Feat & Loathing and you’re right! The glasses have that sweet vintage yellow tinge and look (actually both myself and Samantha have the retro shades vibe going on 👌😃)! Seriously you wait until you try the food here, you will never want to leave. And the bill will never be too expensive. The ads 🤩, $13 so far this month. Winning! 🤣
@brilliantbutblue3 жыл бұрын
That car OMG l want it!! So damn cool. Did you ever find out why that modern looking building was abandoned? It looked like a high rise office block. The architecture is so varied bit like stepping back in time. Shoe shine service wow, we dont have that in Australia lm pretty certain shoe polish inhalation would be an OH&S issue hence banned, western/modern world at its finest, even street performers here must have a registration with the council and all sorts of safety rules apply! The Cafe looked great and the meal delicious. Thanks for the great look around, and highlighted why its worth a visit👍
@FinnDelMundoTravel3 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t that car the coolest thing ever!? I was frothing over the different styles of buildings in Torreón - I wanted to show more but decided against it because I know it’s not everyone’s interest. I never uncovered why that place was abandoned but it was one of hundreds that littered the cityscape so I’m assuming the place has fallen on hard times (GFC?) and is waiting for some gentrification. I think the shoeshine service was once a thing in NZ and Aussie but has since been lost - maybe we’ll see a resurgence in the future? It was an invaluable service!! The downside is getting a permit - they are the death of any great idea proposed to a city council.

@@FinnDelMundoTravel Hi buddy, Torreon had a boom in the 20s because of the train and was one of the cities that received attention by the president Porfirio Diaz in those years, after that, in the 50s we had a boom with the cotton production and the city continuous growing until 80s, in the 90s came a boom with the textil industry and after that years came the cartel war drugs and the dynamic of the city comes down but actually we are getting up of that and we are growing again, Torreon is a mix of cultures like lebanese, chinese, greek, spanish, german, french, american, english, japanese that came looking fortune and the tlaxcaltecas that came from Saltillo capital of Coahuila in the 17 century to stablish points of population around the land and other tribus from here, and that is why you see a lot of interesting examples of architecture in the downtown of the city. I love that you discover it because i love that issue of mi city too, and i also think that is an underrated city of Mexico and that deserves a place in the tourist guide of Mexico. Now we are looking to aeroespacial industry, car industry, food industry and of course the mining and metallurgy industry that came here in early 1900s to get an economic boom again. Actually the architects are trying to take people to old downtown to give another opportunity to old buildings an bringing life again at that part of the city. Thanks for coming to Torreon, Coahuila, MX.

The urban decay is giving Torreon a sad vibe. I wonder if it's the same as Saltillo.
@FinnDelMundoTravel2 жыл бұрын
See I am a big fan of urban decay so I enjoyed the city a lot purely for that one reason. Mix in the decay of mid-century buildings (which are my favourite) and it’s a dream location.
