Ran into you guys that day. Short story, we found a car key up on Torreys. Picked it up and did Grays. Headed back to the trailhead and a guy we had chatted with earlier was asking if anyone had found car keys up at the mountain. When I pulled out his car keys he was in AWE. Lots of trail magic that day. Cheers!
@LiveHardxLoveHard2 ай бұрын
Chris that is so awesome that you picked up that guy's keys and got them back to him! And here's some more trail magic for you. Right after we left we saw an exhausted looking guy walking down that steep road so we stopped to give him a ride -- and it was your guy! We had plenty of time to talk on the way back down that gnarly road to his car, and he told us the whole story about how you found his keys. Trail magic for sure! Such a pleasure to meet you! ❤️

Cheers David! Ya we've really been enjoying both the similarities and differences between the Rockies and the Sierra, but one thing for sure -- we're bailing out of the Rockies now that the snow is crazy. You guys are awesome PERIOD!!! The new drone is awesome too! Amazing shots and a whole new perspective. I hate those knife edge climbs though one wrong move either way if you know what I mean! 😱 I know next time just send the drone on up to the summit for a 360 view guys! Thanks so much for scaring being it’s Halloween! Love you guys!!! 👻🎃❤️

Hooray for drone footage! \o/ It looked great! (I was one of the advocates :) Wow, striking how little vegetation was in view on most of this trip. Maybe because these cliffs are fracturing and eroding so quickly? Cheers! -Liam

Thanks Liam! Very glad you liked the drone footage, and thanks for pushing us to do it. We liked how it turned out as well, and will for sure take it on future traverses. There's just not really any dirt up on those peaks for vegetation to grow in -- I guess that's why they're called the Rockies! ❤️

Spicey in a hurry. The drone is a big improvement. I used to have collapsible poles that you could push down to a third of their size making it possible to clip them on your daypack. Wonder if they still make those cause the poles looked sketch on that vertical stuff.

Yes I actually have a pole bag just like Adam, but accidentally left it behind on this one. No big deal though -- he took the poles for me whenever it got actually gnarly. ❤️

@LiveHardxLoveHard2 ай бұрын
Totally agree, Shaun! The lightness of the Atom is especially important for us because you know we like to go ultra-light, but we were really impressed at how well it handled the wind for being so small. Hope you're having a blast with yours! ❤️

Yay, can I ask some questions about these peaks? I am trying to convince my father to go on a trip to Colorado so we can get our dose of mountains. Kelso Ridge is probably gonna be too much for us, but do you think the peaks are worth the trip?
@LiveHardxLoveHard2 ай бұрын
Yes Jonathan, the views from the peaks, especially Torreys, are spectacular. And if you just take the regular trail rather than the traverse it's a nice class 1 hike the whole way. I think your dad would enjoy it a lot. ❤️

Drone vids make 14ers even better. I have a ton of fun with my Air3 and it handles the wind very well. Be prepared to get some haters when you fly them. I keep my flights short when other people are around.
@LiveHardxLoveHard2 ай бұрын
That's good advice Stephen, and we take it even one step further. We're basically not even going to fly it with other people around unless they give us the ok. It shouldn't be too much of an issue, because most of the routes we do there's no one around to even complain about it! ❤️

Cannot get that dude who did Russell Whitney out of my head. Watch it! You can fast fwd. I used to do 3 a week at Rocky. Big ones. Last time I was anywhere near in decent shape. I guess you know staying above 12k every weekend makes a difference in O2 processing. At Rocky I was over 11k daily. Lived at 8900 feet. You do not understand how big these mountains are until you are on one. Watch my Barronette slides. That is miles up ridge from ice box to top. That tiny snow patch in pics.

This one was definitely my bad, Ellen. Adam got me an excellent pole quiver months ago that is identical to the one he's using here, but I misplaced it and got frustrated looking for it so just decided to carry the poles on this one. Of course it turned up the next day 🙈. But you'll note that when it got really gnarly on the knife edge I made him take the poles for me 😂 His fingers are so strong from climbing it didn't even faze him -- he just laughed and held the poles in three fingers and used the other two on the rock. ❤️ --E
