The actual area originally called Tortilla Flat is now under Canyon Lake where Tortilla Creek runs into it.

Are you saying there's a town or maybe even a trading post under water after Canyon Lake was created? If so, that's extremely interesting. ☀️🌵

This time a year, @tortillaflat gets slammed with people. Their patio is open with live music daily. The drive there and back, coupled with the live music and fantastic food makes the journey so worth it 😎☀️🌵

Back in my day though, Tortilla Flats was where you went to party out in the boondocks, the parties were call boondockers (I don't think there was anything but maybe an old shack there in the 70's) Riding with you via internet, I felt like I was home again, heading out to Canyon Lake. I could actually feel the heat...maybe that's because as I watch this it's 100 degrees outside as I now live in New Mexico. But it brought back memories, 10 of us riding in the back of a pick-up in the 70's. No sunscreen, just lots of babyoil, to get a nice tan. Oh, and "Storm" season is actually called "The monsoon" season, one of my favorite times of the year in the Southwest.

I've ridden my Road King on that road many times 😎☀️🌵

I'm not familiar with the Road King. I was thinking of a 1 or 2 cylinder bike with 400-650CC's under the gas tank. My last bike was a 1977 650 twin Yamaha. Even it's 475 pound weight was at the upper limit of the desirable weight range of a sport bike. Sold the bike around 25 years ago.
@smalltowntourist Жыл бұрын
@Paul Turner that's awesome! My first bike was an '82 Yamaha Virago 750
@paulturner3553 Жыл бұрын
@@smalltowntourist, That was the bike that had a Harley style engine as I recall. What is your understanding about the engine life/reliability on these 750/920 Yamaha's? I understood that the 650 Yamaha twin had a 100,000 miles engine expectancy in a well cared for engine. Only BMW's survive as long/longer before needing a rebuilt engine.
@smalltowntourist Жыл бұрын
@Paul Turner I know those older Yamaha's are well sought after because they ran/run forever

I put a dollar on the wall many many years ago. All these bills are new since the restoration burned down a long time ago. Me and a friend drove up there last year. He had his 64 Corvette and I had my 96 Mazda Miata. What a great drive. Don’t forget to get the brisket sandwich. WOW. SOOOOO GOOD

Yes! Their food has dramatically improved over the past couple years. The dollar bills on the walls has become one of my favorite parts of TF. I love reading them to see where the people were from and when they were there. Great post! Thank you!! 😎☀️🌵
