Wouldn't it be nice if the children would all play nicely together, and pull together to get us out of this mess we are in, instead of shouting and bickering like kids, get us out of the mess that's what we pay them for, then argue about party gate /beer gate and any other gate they want to.

@@hoppy857h5 what are you talking about? The energy companies raised your prices and claimed billions in profits already! They’ve already done what you’re claiming they will do if they’re taxed. We can’t allow these big businesses to continue price gouging and a windfall tax is the only other option apart from nationalisation.

The ever-so "caring" government has demonstrated just exactly how much it cares for working families. The government has said that working families will be 6K better off by being in work; let's just say for argument's sake that they are 100% right "which is very doubtful anyway when you compare against the actual cost of living" but let's say they are still right. How then can hard-working families spend quality family time together and build those necessary bonds that children need if all it is that parents are doing is working longer hours just to keep the household running? Once again we have a policy that shows just how inconsiderate the government is towards family life. This government does not hold families together because their fiscal policies are counter-productive to the actual meaning of family life! Do they even have a clue?

It would be cheaper to renationalise energy, and doing so would ensure the taxpayer got value for money in things like winter fuel allowances which don't go far enough and line the pockets of greedy shareholders as dividends. A nationalised energy sector would fully exploit North Sea gas and build full storage capacity instead of relying on a stream of imports as an international cartel rig the prices.

It would be better if Scotland voted for indy then we could hoard the lot. After all the English press likes to brainwash everyone down south into thinking the Scots are scroungers when the opposite is true. The vast majority of the UK's natural resources are north of the border.

You're describing social democracy, or even democratic socialism. We just want the public to have more power in government and the workplace. Most MPs who call themselves socialist are actually advocating for this. It's not the boogeyman people think it is, it's just wanting ordinary people to have more power and more say in government, and government to focus on helping ordinary people rather than their rich pals.

Given that even after 2008 there was little fiscal support from the government (no subsidies, lower taxes for middle class in deflationary low-growth years), what to expect now… they will use inflation/debt as excuse not to ease burden on middle class whose living standards were stagnating now for decades. people already learnt to live modestly, wish the elites were as lean and efficient, instead more tragedy for the common man, ever higher inequality

I can remember the same argument being made when Labour was in power regarding the military pay, the unions said it should increase pay for them. After the government gave in the unions then said that seeing as they gave the military a rise they should pay their members as well or they would strike. If the government gives in who will finally pay piper, those that will lose their jobs that is who.
