7:52.. on the question of power. 55Amps = 660 watts for 10,000 BTU. In a 412 AH lithium that is about 7.5 hours under ideal conditions and it never stops taking it from 100-0%. I would think that translates to overnight or 10 hours. In my micro camper van in hot and humid Florida I run a cheap 24v 1800BTU Chinese AC that gets the job done in the shade or at night. It vents into my van Garage that is vented so you don't see anything from outside. It only cost $500 and consumes only 200 watts of power. I can run it two nights while parked using my 460AH lithium, but if take solar and drive around some for dc-dc charging I able to run it all week at night. It would likely not do much in a big standing van, but in my small van with it's enclosed sleeping area it works great. It removes so much humidity from my van in the summer. Video on my channel.

Some constructive observations and questions....1. After having my oil filter hit by a rock from the road and cracking it, I'm questionable of any pressure filled device on the underside of my vehicle without some type of shielding. 2. In your refrigeration schematic, the thermal expansion valve has both the suction and discharge lines running through it, why? The TXV is designed to change the cool liquid refrigerant from the condenser back into a low-pressure gas prior to the evaporator. The evaporator then makes it a high temperature gas, which gets compressed by the compressor and discharged to the condenser coil for cooling. 3. Alot of the other systems DC or AC operation put the compressor outside with the condenser coil, an reason why this outfit choses to place it inside the cabin? Thanks

Cruise N Comfort is the one I figured I'd use if I didn't roll my own, and make a heat pump system. Scary that I know enough to do that. I've been watching your videos on this van build in random order. Back to sound deadening. I was thinking of going heavy on the sound deadening on the wheel wells, roof, and firewall but skip it elsewhere. This is because it will do the most good there for road, engine, and rain noise. Otherwise my insulation will provide lots of sound deadening. Sound transmission, like heat transmission, is greatly reduced by breaking the sound conduction path. A little planning can both improve effectiveness for sound deadening and insulation. Insulation, I was thinking of using a closed cell stick on foam product made for insulating metal hulled boats. I was going to install it in 1 cm layers with dense vinyl sheets between them. The combination makes a good sound deadener. It would be better with a foam sheet that is more elastomeric, but I don't need sound studio quiet. Also the more elastomeric foams are poor insulators. 3 layers would give me roughly an R-7. About the same as the best spray in foams can do. This is the modern equivalent of the heavy fiberglass and lead sheet sound deadener used in yacht engine rooms. Reflective bubble wrap insulation like Reflectix requires an air gap to work. Except in the ceiling, hard to assure there is an air gap. My plan was to buy an industrial IR reflective sheet and stick it on the inside of the foam insulation. Yeah, it only reflects heat back in. Using any stick on product, ask what the temperature range for both the product and adhesive. If one wants it to survive in the SW desert the high end needs to handle 200F to 220F. That sun is brutal. Those are my thoughts. Right now I'm just camping out of the back of a Tesla Model Y much like Bryan Hauer is doing. I have a home base so it works for me. If Tesla had a full sized van, I'd be converting it right now.

Good for you, Tory. It's not just for comfort. It's a necessity as you have found more days of triple digit temps in the SW than ever before. Where is the A/C filter? Change it regularly. It should be at least a MERV 8 or 9, go up to MERV 11 if you have allergies. And locate your CABIN filter and change it about once a year or two. That's an easy DIY. Ebay has them for about half the price of an auto parts store.
