No OS in mine. Just rescued one of these from the atic and planning on using it for taking it to presentations and as a very portable thing. Installing debian on it. Then learnt there is a a BIOS upgrade from 1.90 to 2.0 (oficial) as there was some issue with linux apparently, but can't upgrade through OS so have to do it throught USB. Can anyone point me to where I can find info on how to do this? thanks.

Thanks so much. My keyboard is no longer working right. Water damage. Keys 3,E,D dont work dont want to buy a whole new one and dont want to take in. just not sure. Since its water damage is it just the keyboard that I need to replace? Everything else works perfectly fine. (3,e,d are just not inputting info in, and keys bounce bake normally)

I would start with replacing an invertor and than screen.

Nice Video! I was taking mine apart and noticed an empty bay-like area. Right around 1:20 in the video you can see the area, it is below the empty hard drive bay. Do you have any idea what might go there?

I have a question. The hinges on my Toshiba Mini nb505-n500bl broke. The Screen is now going in and out badly at times and will not stay up some times. It will also fall back down if not angled right. Is there any way to fix this at all?

Hi Autum, there is always a way to fix everything. The only question is how much it will cost. If hinges are broken, you can expect some other damages inside a back cover. In this case it will be better probably to buy a whole upper part, maybe even with the screen together or if screen is good, only back cover bezel hinges webcam cables etc. And after that fix everything.

Im ok with any cost fixing it. Where could I look to find a whole upper part? My webcam is fuzzed up as well from the break so your right. I thank you tons for helping me.

If you will watch this video - you will locate a CMOS battery right away. After you will open this door (where memory and hdd), there is a black CMOS battery.

If water didn't went thru and didn't damaged more inside parts - you should be fine to only replace the keyboard.

i dont think so jeje, my toshiba is used only to play hearts and solitaire, everything fails (battery, disk, boot, usb), but thanks for this video, i always wanted to make her suffer by dissasembling.

Carlo, It depends on your HDD If your HDD is one that you took out of a laptop or has SATA connectors exposed, then yes you sure as shit can. But if you have one of those ones from WD that you plug a micro USB into then Unfortunately, no.

Paul Allen, unfortunately you can not upgrade the processor because of it being soldered into the motherboard. The processor should still work well, if you still think your processor is running hot, go check task manager to check the usage. If that seems ok then try cleaning out your fan by using a can of compressed air. RAM is the main issue in this PC. It is very much upgradeable and you can buy 2GB card for 12 dollars. It is Called PC2 laptop RAM. Search in in eBay or Amazon. Best regards.

You would need to try a different inverter and if this doesn't help - different screen.
