Thanks for the great review....I also have a P75-A7200 model it is fantastic...the best laptop I have ever owned...and yes it is great for gaming. I play Path of Exile daily for hours on end...and even at 1080P it is flawless. Hard to believe the onboard 4600HD graphics can do it....but it does. Highly recommend this laptop! Also thanks for the update on the new model. P75-A7100 was wondering about the changes and difference. :)

Just bought one on blackfriday. I absolutely love it. I was hunting for one for days, to both, play Dota 2 and to use for school stuff. Works like a charm. Only downside is the battery. If I play Dota 2 with if unplugged for an hour or so, I end up needing to plug it in during gameplay.

4:35 This is by far, the finest sounding laptop I've ever heard. My brother-in-law owns it, and listens to a lot of his old-school music on it via youtube. Packs a HUGE punch. Aside of that, everything else about it is simply incredible as well!

I bought this laptop for web development and its been great I upgraded and additional 16gb of Ram and also put in a secondary SSD and he said it right now it screams. I would recommend it especially for a developer on a budget.

The first thing I done is removed windows and installed Linux, However Ubuntu will NOT boot on it as well as a few other distributions. The speed is insane with everything stock compared to how it was with shitty windows.It was fair with Windows but that's Windows for you. Can't wait till my 2 SSds and Ram gets here this week. Hello Matt, If you're only playing the games you listed then the Intel Hd 4600 should be fine. For example, the Intel HD 4600 can run WOW on high settings at around 34 fps and just to put in perspective the Intel HD 4600 can run Call of Duty Ghost on low settings at around 40 fps.

And just a note about the Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics, I've been impressed so far. I've downloaded a few games from Steam and to me they run great. Granted, I haven't tried top games like CoD or Battlefield.. but the games I have tried were pretty much flawless. Eve Online works well, too.

Yes, the Intel HD Graphics 4600 is pretty good. I was able to play Battlefield 4 on low settings and get an average of 34 FPS.

I originally got the 15.6" touchscreen but it does not have space for an extra hardrive bay so you can't add an ssd or hyrbrid drive unless you remove the the original drive. So u sacrificed the touch screen for a more power & a bigger screen. Also the speaker audio on the satellite 15.6" with Harmon kardon speakers suck. The Harmon kardon speakers only sound great on the 17.3".I'm glad I upgraded

The computer can actually take up to 32GB PC3-12800. Given the cost of 8GB SODIMMs, I can't see many people actually upgrading to 32GB, but with the four RAM slots, a nice upgrade to 16GB may be rather common.

The UJ-262 by Panasonic fits perfect in this laptop. I have also cloned my OS to a Samsung 840 SSD (250gb) and use this as my primary HD and the factory HD I keep installed for data (I do a fair amount of video processing). I also added 2 x 4gb of G Skill Ripjaw DDR3 1600 1.35v CAS 9 memory. When all said and done the entire notebook with upgrades cost $900.

Just for clarification the UJ-262 is a blu-ray burner. Amazon currently has it for $130 and Ebay for $120. Amazon was much more expensive when I ordered it off of Ebay- now pretty close. Ebay took about 2 weeks to arrive. This is a 9.5mm SATA form factor, tray-loading blu-ray burner- these are not easy to find. The UJ-262 is the only model I can find that satisfies those requirements for less the $250.

Added a Samsung 250GB SSD to this computer and you're right.. it's screaming now. I did a clone on the HDD to the SSD but this turned out not to work too well. Ended up doing a clean Windows install and everything is great now.

This is still my daily driver, I've upgraded the system drive to a 1TB SSD and have the original disk as the secondary storage drive. I've also upgraded to 24GB of RAM and use this for heavy LightRoom/Photoshop work daily. This laptop is a built like a tank and has held up better than any other computer I've owned over the years.

I shoved a Samsung 840 Pro in mine, and moved the factory HDD to the second slot. I have 16 GB more RAM in the mail, for a total of 24 GB. This will do my big data crunching very nicely, with in-box backup capability. And I'm sure it'll render Angy Birds very well.

You should check out the Aorus 17 YA it is Gigabytes first desktop replacement and its also their most powerful gaming laptop. It has a Core i9 eight core CPU and a Nvidia RTX 2080 non Max Q graphics card and a mechanical keyboard and a 240Hz display so you should check it out.

Toshiba is only selling it as a refurb and I was really concerned about the 90 Day Limited Warranty. The price is unbelievable though. The refurb is going for just $598! Do you think it would be worth the risk of the limited warranty to buy the A7100? ***** Oh wow, thank you for your quick response! I didn't expect to hear back from you for a lot longer haha :) On Toshiba's site they seem to be selling the A7100 only as a refurb now. I really want to keep the price down as low as I can since I'm not the one paying for it. My parents are willing to pay, but I'm stressing over finding something that I won't feel terrible having them pay for. At first, I wanted to keep the price as close to 5 as I could, but since we've decided going with the i7 is probably the best choice that will last me the next 4 years, I've had to bump it up. I would say that now I want to stay as close to 6 as I can. That's why seeing such a low price on something that has everything that I want is incredibly tempting and also incredibly concerning.

I purchased this Laptop in October of 2013 and like you I really like the performance, look, and speed of this Computer my question Is how can I change all the "Default" Toshiba Settings / Applications on the opening Desktop Visual to look like my old Modem which was running Microsoft XP before it died. just got this computer and like it. but had one MAJOR problem. put computer in 17.3 laptop carry case. it was a tight fit. put computer on sleep mode and left for destination. when i got there one hour later i removed the computer from carry case and noticed immediately that the computer was RED HOT ! shouldnt there be some type of bios program on the computer to prevent this EXTREME overheating by shutting off the computer !

***** So - I placed my order (Toshiba Direct, through eBay) for a refurbed unit - hopefully a non-DOA one. Do you think it's important to go with a 256GB (or 240 GB) SSD rather than a 120/128 GB unit? I don't think I need the extra space per se, and (particularly for the Samsung) it's a fair bit more expensive. For that matter, the Crucial is a lot cheaper than the Samsung; is there any real difference between them that justifies the extra expense? Thanks again for your help!

Don Radlauer You should be fine with the 120GB model, I just prefer extra space. The Samsung Solid State State drives are known for their reliability and performance with that being said the Crucial brand name is well known for their reliability in flash memory as well. The best bang your buck would be either the Crucial M500 or the Samsung 840 Evo and the best all around SSD is the Samsung 840 Pro.

have you replaced the optical drive with a bluray burner? I went to upgrade mine with a bluray burner out of a different laptop, and realized this uses a 9.5 mm drive instead of the more common 12.5 mm drive. There are not many options for 9.5 mm bluray burners and what there are, are quite expensive. It's kind of silly that they designed a laptop of this caliber and omitted a bluray drive. In addition for some stupid reason they chose an ultra slim drive for a notebook that is not all that slim. If you have any recommendations let me know. Thanks & nice video.

UJ-262 by Panasonic is a bluray burner I found that should fit this ,you can find it on eBay for $120. I'm not positive it will work, but the dimensions are similar to the optical drive that's in there. I bought this as a refurb from woot for $550. So far everything looks and works like new. If I don't have any issues over the next couple weeks, I'll order it and post back to let people know if it worked out.

A few questions. Can you add a better graphics card? And is there anything i can do make the games play with better fps? like 50-60 on medium settings?

What games are you currently playing? The Intel HD Graphics 4600 is pretty capable on certain games.

Yes, this computer is running the 64 bit version of Windows 8.1. This panel is not a touchscreen.

Hello Toshiba fans. Yesterday I picked this Laptop up at Best Buy. When I got home I went to Amazon.com and ordered some upgrades...SSD HDD And 8 gigs of ram. When I watched this video (Great Video Review BTW Eternal) I realized (from reading the comments section) (thanks George Kountouris) that I ordered 1.5 volt ram. Just bought the laptop. So much bloatware installed.. once I got rid of that I'm getting about :30 start up times. Not bad? Will adding an SSD help out a lot? What capacity would I need to use it as a boot drive?

Yes, everything will be much faster with an SSD. I would recommended either a 64GB SSD or a 128GB SSD for your boot drive depending on your budget.

Yea, I have a problem, My computer will not respond if I click on something such as Program Icons, browsers and so on, thing is, it allows for me to click it when it basically wants me to, it is not the mouse as I have already checked, but I still barely get on anything.

Try to restore your laptop to factory settings and see if that resolves your issue. Be sure to back up your data first.

On the new model P75-A7100, it says that it has Mobile Intel® HD Graphics. Would that be just as good as the 4600 graphics?

At my school the computers have pentium processors and they windows experience index scores it at 7.4... It must be outdated because the i7 in the video has a score of 7.9
