I came to this fight after reading that toshiro’s true bankai can freeze all elements and energy. Here hyorinmaru is freezing hado/bakudo attacks that are pure energy. Even though it’s a filler ark it’s obviously something that the author has wanted hitsugaya to have

Now that you mention it, I notice it. Author decided to get involved in the anime because the studio didn't fully understand the characters especially Hitsugaya and Hyorinmaru. Anime said Hitsugaya's zenpakuto was water and ice. In fact, manga calls it Cryogenic. It's because of this misunderstanding that many Anime only fans believe that Rukia's zenpakuto is the actual opposite of Captain Commander's bankai. This arc definitely had Author's involvement even though it is filler. All zenpakutos designs are approved by Author.

Given IF we add the lore of Diamond Dust Rebellion and I recall Kubo loves taking concepts from movie and filler and adding them to canon, it makes alot of sense why Hyorinmaru after manifesting wouldn't remember Toshiro because he had two masters at the same time Toshiro and Kusaka

i think it was more like Muramasa gave Hyorinmaru amnesia because he knew Hyorinmaru would never leave his master. Their bond is so strong that nothing could convince Hyorinmaru to betray Toshiro so he had to take his memories.
