I love that this is presented here as one continuous track! Experimental Prog metal meets experimental indie shoegazey Radioheady Sigurd Ross style ambiences!!! Surprisingly melodic and well orchestrated enough to be palatable , even catchy! But with time sig changes and interesting harmony and even counterpoint in there it's Sophisticated enough to keep you guessing. Oh and by the way Rabea Massad is one of the best guitar players alive... Seriously he's barely begun and already has such a clear and original voice......mark my words sky's the limit for him. Even if you don't like metal check it out
@Casey3-P-O7 жыл бұрын
William Davis hey man I agree with everything u said about this album. It's so amazing. All 3 great musicians. I was wondering if u could point out to me on what part of the album do they use counterpoint as melodies. I'm learning a lot of theory right now, so I understood most of ur comment but I'm interested if u could tell me at what time of which song they use counterpoint. Would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Casey Nevels From listening to it and being familiar with Bea's style, it's likely the chord voicings he uses during the cleaner spacey parts, as they're very piano like and spread out. Especially with them using very low tunings, I could see how it would give the Bass, tenor, alto, soprano vibes.
@rafaelkindermann46436 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Toska are one of only a few modern ''metal" bands that actually have a unique sound. Most of them just sound the same. And Rabea is perhaps the only youtube musician (besides Adam Neeley, Rick Beato and Andrew Huang) that actually has spmething to say as a real musician. It is great to find stuff like this!
@csfe007 жыл бұрын
I'm completely blown away by how well crafted these songs are. To me this is perfect music.
@johnbeamon6 жыл бұрын
This album is even better "live", as an uninterrupted flow. I usually appreciate the small quality improvements of a track-by-track production, but this live production is just flawless. No one would ever believe Toska is just a trio. If anything I prefer the less-mastered dynamic quality of this recording. It's one of the better sounding albums I've heard in a long time. Thanks for pouring your heart and soul into this work.

best 35 minutes of my day. why did it have to end
@MessiahofFire7 жыл бұрын
Because writing epic songs takes time... Simple rhetorical question: would you rather have 35 minutes of great music or 35 minutes of good music and 20 minutes of filler?
@ValleyOfWillows7 жыл бұрын
Because otherwise it would have been more than 35 minutes and you wouldn't have been able to make this specific comment without making a strange impression (to me at least...)

I play guitar so I understand the logistics of song writing and making good music. I like the live version of this EP better than the original, imo of course.

This to me is experimental jazz meets progressive metal. I am completely gobsmacked at the technical proficiency, and the obvious chemistry of this amazing three piece. They constantly up the bar, and stand convention on its head and kick the crap out of it Jet Li style.

This version captures your chemistry much better than the studio version.

Once again thank you and greetings from Kosova

Toska simply must tour the US. I can see them getting absolutely huge here. Imagine them opening for Trivium, or Devin Townsend. I'd go see that in less than a heartbeat. Or maybe even opening for Oysterhead a complete mind altering experience.

Not just good, this is great! They are the AC/DC of the more progressive stuff, so tight and interesting and even the complicated stuff seems to have a meaning and fire to it! Thanks!
@LJPV7777 жыл бұрын
Kurgle Kreutzer I don't understand the comparison to AC/DC
@kurglekreutzer63447 жыл бұрын
Meaning the best there is of that stuff, not as in "simple" like AC/DC, though AC/DC really isn't that simple if you try to do it right! So basically if you want to hear a good rock band you think of AC/DC, and if you want to hear something more progressive, you would think of these guys! Hope this clears the idea for you!
