Bama, you got a new subscriber here. In your videos, you talk to your viewers like we’re actually out there on the boat with you. As someone from the Midwest, you have no idea how helpful you are in educating and promoting respectful and humane saltwater fishing. Folks like us come down for 4-7 days at a time, so absorbing all the information we can through your videos has been really helpful! Have a good rest of your season! Can’t wait to see more pier, jetty and surf vids!

My buddy and I are heading to Gulf Shores from Iowa tomorrow morning and staying right there at The Grand Beach Resort next to the pier. We're going to be doing some surf fishing around there. My buddy Brandon is a huge fan and talks about this channel a lot. I grew up in Alabama and vacationed in Gulf Shores as a kid but never did any saltwater fishing so this should be a lot of fun. Enjoy the channel and thanks for the great fishing tips! Roll Tide!🤘🏻🤘🏻

I had a house in Gulf Shores. Back in the 80's and 90's (before I got a boat) we would use trollies on the end of that pier fishing for king mackerel. I'd bring 3 rods - a casting rod to fish like you are now - frequently with large silver spoon, a bait rod with a ribbon and a heavier rod for trolley fishing. If you grew up around there then I may have seen you when you were young. They eventually stopped letting us fish off the end of the pier with trollies and started enforcing the 2 rod-in-use rule (1 fishing and 1 bait). I caught a lot of fish there - mostly blues, Spanish, sometimes specs near the other end of the pier when I had live shrimp, and quite a few king mackerels but never more than 1 king in a single day. The blues were actually pretty good provided they were promptly bled. Also caught black tip on the trolley (was okay to catch them back then as long as you didn't chum) and strange stuff like stargazers. Those were good times..

Just got back from fishing in PCB. A bit windy, but we always make the best of it. Got off shore, to one of my spots, and on our last trip out, we saw an event we had never seen, in my 30 years of saltwater fishing. While catching vermilion snapper, in 70' of water, my daughter released a short fish, about 9". As we watched the fish swim away, a red snapper, came to the surface, and chased the beeliner, and ate it. The red snapper was no less than 30" long, 18"belly to back, and maybe 40 lbs plus. An awesome sight. We really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.

Growing up in Japan, the bloodline of most fish was always considered "dark" meat of the fish, my Japanese grandmother always told me it was the healthiest part lol. I usually ate it with lots of rice and soy sauce to dilute the bitter taste and now as an adult I come to appreciate the dense flavor. Its one of my favorite parts of the fish now (especially salmon and mackerel). Love these videos Bama, keep up the good work.

I've never owned a fishing rod before, whenever I go fishing I just take an empty glass bottle, some lines and hooks. I roll the line on the bottle and use the whole thing as an alternative to fishing rod. I catch a lot of fish and I have no idea what they are called, I just know they taste good. I'm new to fishing and this channel is helping me learn about some species. Sorry for my English.

I collect them and have 317 of these great reels. I wish you could see all of them. You should have had some hand lines rigged with bunnies cords and strong nylon clothesline cord. You put Clark Spoons on leaders on those hand lines and put them out behind your boat as you Troll. You’ll catch a ton of Spanish this way. Great video! - Chris

My favorite Spanish Mackerel bait, by far is a 0 size squid spoon tied on to 6' of 50# mono up to a black barrel swivel with 1.5 - 2 Oz egg lead (Carolina rig), dragged through the water FAST. Either slow troll (1200+- RPM) or reeled in as fast as you can, stop and drop from time to time usually gets your strike 🎣. Got 36 one day from 6am to 11am at Potter's pier, at Ft. Desoto Park, St. Pete., FL... FUN Trolling well away from the pier can be VERY productive. Can even get huge Jack Cravell this way from time to time. If you ask me, the Tampa Bay area is the best fishing anywhere lol 😆 Though we don't have your offshore structures. Those look like some awesome fishing 🎣 😀 👍Great show, dude. Good stuff 👏 for sure 👏 👌 👍

Great video! My brother and I went out of Marina Jacks in Sarasota last week on a half-day charter. We hooked into 12 kings, two broke off, we released one and put nine in the box in which several were in the 20 lb range. 2 1/2 hours of non-stop pulling on stand-up tackle. It wore us out! They are very similar to Spanish. I know you say they’re better if you don’t freeze. We had a cooler full of filets. I vacuumed sealed all of it to make the trip back to Virginia where I put it in my deep freezer. I’ve done this before. If you vacuum seal them they do hold freshness until thawed and eaten. Even up to a year. Must be vacuum packed though.

One thing you can do as well , makes skinning a little easier , cut the fillet out down to near the end of the tail but do not cut it out completely , just to the end , then flip the fillet back and skin side down. Lay the blade just on the fillet at the tail end , and then you can hold the body of the fish and take the skin off. Then the skin stays on the main body and you discard it all in one piece.

So they are at the GSP 🙂 Little tip on the "fast" way of filleting them..When you cut down by the head and work your way down to the tail, once you get to the tail don't cut the filet off just flip the filet over while it's still attached at the tail. You cut the filet off at the tail then had to use your fingers to try an hold the skin down while removing the filet from the skin. If you don't cut it off at the tail it's so much easier to get the filet off the skin. You get what I'm saying? lol I prob didn't explain that too good 😅

Really nice Love me some good grilled salt fish. FWIW, I don't shake the whole bottle of spice anymore. I've had the little holey shaker top doo dad come undone and the half the bottle of spice plooshed out into whatever dish I was cooking. I'll pour a small amount of spice out into the lid and either shake some into the dish, or get a pinch with my fingers and add whatever I want. I'd also get a cinderblock or a couple of pieces of clean lumber to set your grill lid on. I've had dirt and sand and leaves and such stick to the lid and drop off onto the food I was cooking. But then, Murphy hates me and follows me around everywhere I go. 😂 Thanks for another great video
