A mesmerizing symphony of swaying kelp, beautiful fish, deep water canyons and lovely music. Thank you Matt.

“Flow with the surge”… no truer words. Happy diving if you realize that you can’t fight it. Glad the sea puppy showed up. Enjoyable video, Matt.

Kool video. CA really needs the rain. Consider a candle powered heater for a more comfortable night. 4 tealights put out a nice amount of heat. Good Luck, Rick

How deep is the water where you are diving? Love the fish! Stay safe
@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the location and the tide but usually the fun stuff is 30 feet or less on the beach dives. There are a few deeper reefs like Deadman’s or Aliso around 50 but I haven’t hit those since I’ve been back since they’re too deep to solo without a pony bottle and deep dives burn through tank air quicker

so cool! i live near Laguna and am just starting to learn free diving, would you mind if i asked what calm conditions are on tide charts? I cant seem to get it right...it will say 2 ft waves and ill go out but conditions are kinda violent and murky lol. i dont have reference to what calm surge and wind numbers are.
@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes2 жыл бұрын
It’s…complicated. Best easy judge of conditions is a Facebook group called South Coast Divers. Rich puts out his guess at conditions and he’s better than most. I use Magic Seaweed to judge tide and wave height but you have to take into account what has been going on for several days before since that can stir things up. Best diving is usually October to January ish

1) It's was cool to watch the fish react to the surge. 2) Thanks for writing the notes at the bottom of the screen, I hear your voice when I read then and it makes me giggle. 3) Why can't you dive in the rain? Is it a visibility issue?
@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes2 жыл бұрын
When it rains things flush out to the ocean and bacteria levels become elevated to unsafe levels for about 72 hours

Fun stuff. Bet you're happy you got past the temptation to stay in bed. Never seen a Painted Greenling like the one @1:44. Is that an aberrant, or a seasonal coloration thing? Whatever, nice fish.
