I'd think a lot of the price difference is due to Z1 selling genuine Akebono calipers, the ones you linked aren't even described as remanufactured, just "meet or exceed OEM specs".
@SpeedCultureStudios3 жыл бұрын
There is nothing to say they aren’t remanufactured either. No sources have been found showing that anyone is making replicas. They are the same as the power stop unfinished which have been stated as refurbished akebonos
@dphi8083 жыл бұрын
@@SpeedCultureStudios True, I think it's just that one seller is clearly describing them as OEM, the other seems to be stating that they're not (meet or exceeds OEM is not OEM). Just saying, I think that has more to do with the price difference than the fact that the Z1 kit is one complete package.
@SpeedCultureStudios3 жыл бұрын
@@dphi808 there is definitely a convenience factor for z1 putting everything all in a complete package. It’s just an alternative option for folks unable to drop $2000 on brakes. I’ll keep everyone posted on performance!

Also, since my car is not a Sport model (no 19" wheels), do you know if I were to replace the wheels with a 19" wheel that there would then be enough clearance for the big breaks & no concern about the tire rubbing the wheel well liner?

depends on the wheel. 19" wheels will clear the brakes in terms of diameter, but the real issue is offset and clearing the caliper with the spokes of the wheels.

What is the overall performance difference between these and the non sport? Obviously the brake fade will be reduced, but any difference in initial bite and stopping distance when brakes are cool?
@SpeedCultureStudios2 жыл бұрын
I’ve talked about this in other videos if you’re looking for further input but essentially no difference at all in normal everyday driving. Some will say that the bite quicker and that there is a big difference, but I think it’s wishful thinking. I’ve noticed no difference in daily driving and stopping distance has been tested thoroughly showing very little, if any, improvement in stopping distance when cool. But yes, they do resist brake fade much better over extended periods of aggressive braking. That’s the real benefit. I pushed the car really hard with the non-sport brakes and was very impressed. I’ll be fully testing these finally very soon but if you’re just a typical driver, they are just aesthetic
