The deep theological concept of total depravity has been debated among Bible scholars for centuries. Every aspect of human nature is corrupted by sin (our will, our minds, and our bodies) and a divine intervention from God is required to regenerate and create our new hearts. This week, Pastor John guides us through Romans 3, reminding us that true righteousness comes not from ethnic identity or following the law, but from heartfelt faith in God.

The “little idol” comment hit me hard. I’ve always been a full tithe payer, and it has always blessed me but I never attributed it to giving up an idol. That really is so true. We are told money is the most precious thing that exists, when in reality Jesus Christ is the most precious thing.

We really love The Chosen, but I’ve struggled with that same sentiment. People that aren’t lead to the scriptures by the show won’t know the 100% truth. 2 redeeming qualities that have helped my conscience. 1. Biblical round tables for every episode, a must see, they tear apart every bit of creative license the writers and actors take, pointing it to the Bible. 2. Every livestream Dallas does, he ends up bringing up the fact that there is creative license and the point of the show is to point people to their own relationship with the gospels. I just pray people take that lead.

Good morning, John. Just want to say I enjoy your sermons very much. I think you have a heart. The Warrior and of a teacher. What Judas did was most certainly very bad full of fear and greed. But before he even kissed him to identify him, Jesus called him friend, his sin was horrible. But Jesus' ability to forgive Is that of GOD Love you brother Keep up the good work.

I’ve been curious about your theology and if you were Calvinist. Seeing the title, I thought, there it is. But then you mentioned free will. Do you believe children are covered until they reach an age of understanding? Or would you say if they die before that, they’re doomed to hell? The Calvinistic view of original sin? Regardless, love your work!

@@turkeybobjr agree with you, on the doctrine, wasn’t aware of the Augustine connection, just curious of John’s perception, thanks for the reply!

@@turkeybobjr Respectfully, the doctrine of "original sin" is quite Biblical, and is a key component of Pauline theology, but it does not mean that you are guilty of Adam's sin; what it means is that you committed Adam's sin. The key phrase in Romans 5:12 is ἐφ’ ᾧ πάντες ἥμαρτον; literally, it reads, "for that all sinned." This clause informs us why death passed on to all men - all sinned. Paul is not referring to the present sins of men (cf. Romans 3:10-18, 23) since in verses 15-19 he refers to the one sin of the one man, Adam as being the cause of the reign of death for all those in Adam (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:22), and not just the reign of the enemy of physical death (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:26), but that we are now all “by nature children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3). Furthermore, the phrase “all sinned” is in the past tense, meaning that the sin of all occurred in the past, that is, at the same time as Adam’s sin. While it is certainly true that all men presently sin, that is the result of the reign of death, not the cause of it. In Genesis 2:17, Yahweh told Adam (אָדָם: man, mankind) that in the day that he eats from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he will surely die. What we see is that all mankind surely die, therefore all mankind ate from the tree. God does not condemn innocent people, therefore if all men did not eat from the tree, then the universal reign of death would be an unjust judgement from God, however scripture declares that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), “death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12), and “in Adam all die” (1 Corinthians 15:22). So, how can this be? In Romans 5:12, we see that the word "sinned" translates a Greek aorist tense, indicating that at one point in time “all men” sinned. Obviously, here Paul is referencing the time that Adam first sinned. His point is that all mankind sinned along with Adam, because all mankind were in his loins when he sinned. Should anyone doubt that this is Paul’s reasoning, we can see this same reasoning in Hebrews 7:9-10 where Levi is said to have paid tithes to Melchizedek because he was in the loins of Abraham when he did so. Therefore “all men” sinned with Adam, “all men” are condemned, and “all men” were appointed sinners (Romans 5:19).
@jeremywolffbrandt7488
@jeremywolffbrandt7488 29 күн бұрын
@@turkeybobjr have to respectfully disagree. Original sin is not a part of Gnostic theory, it is articulated in the Bible and by theologians prior to Augustin including Irenaeus, Tertullian, and Origen among others. Ephesians 2:1-3 makes it clear that we are sinners "by nature". 1 Corinthians 15:22 is clear that we have inherited death through Adam. Jesus did not teach that children are inherently innocent, he taught that their simple faith is necessary for salvation. While I disagree with your interpretation, I wouldn't question your salvation. I'd caution you about throwing around the "h" word regarding disputed interpretations that aren't necessary for salvation.
@jeremywolffbrandt7488
@jeremywolffbrandt7488 29 күн бұрын
@@turkeybobjr we have inherited Adam's sin nature. Romans 5 makes that clear. All people die regardless of if they overtly sin showing that they have inherited Adam's curse of death (Rom 5:15). Likewise all are condemned due to Adam's sin (Rom 5:18). Do you think it a a coincidence that 100% of people (other than Christ) have sinned? "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" or might there be a natural inherited cause of that sin. I'm thankful for Christ's gift that overcomes the curse of sin/death.

Do see the connection between the Gold Spa events and the attacks against RZIM? You probably do. David was a man after God's own heart. Solomon had hundreds of concubines. We think we know sex and death but we know nothing. Is marriage a union ordained by God? The first Marriage didn't even have an oath, simply witnessed by God. Context ? Romans 3 is about no one being “good” under the law. It’s about the law. Of course no one can earn salvation with religious activities as the Jews thought they could. It is all by faith alone now. That’s the whole point of Romans 3. Gotta look at the whole context within the book

@FreedomOperatorOperatingOp-w8i At the time of the desert journey, Judah (the geogra[hical location) had not yet been established, they were self-identified as Hebrews until the splitting of the tirbes into Judah and Israel. And then, the stronger tribe became the main identifying name of the descendants of the original Hebrew people. (Judaism became the name of their religion, (at least to the outsiders), and it spread from there.

@@jmayville-s5z You're correct. I was rushing and misspelled my reply. Judea was the place, however, my answer is correct in that Hebrews were not called Jews when Moses received the commandments. The terminology is the cause for current-day confusion and misrepresentation of who or what a child of Isreal happens to be. Israel is a people who are obedient to the one God, and not only the inhabitants of a place.

I know you owe me nothing, and I'm definitely not part of your flock, I would absolutely enjoy a clashing of the minds. It comes down to interpretation that tbh can very easily be interpreted as antisemitic. As a believer in Messiah I can surely call out the teachings of oral law, never against the law. And "Christian's" seem to have a problem with God's law but you understand to keep mans laws and there is a whole lot more of mans laws. I do pray we get a chance to have a spiritual debate.
