They didn't just give up on the game, they stopped selling it, delisted it and are giving everyone that bought it a full refund. Nothing close to this has ever happened before in gaming. 8 years of production, $200 million budget and it was so unbelievably bad they... "de-released" it in 11 days. Think about it like this, what if a movie bombed so bad they pulled it from theaters after 11 days AND then offered to refund everyone that paid to see it? THIS is what happened to Concord.

For this digital, streaming, live service media hellscape. Well now we are seeing the consequences of said actions. Before Overwatch went to hell it was the last spark of old Blizzard. The new characters weren't nearly as good but those OGs were indeed memorable. This is exactly what they deserve. What kind of business makes a product without trying to reach the biggest audience possible? I've never studied business before but even I can safely assume that if you make a product, you want it to sell. A company short-sighted enough to not know who your target audience is deserves the fail. They clearly did not make the game for your average gamer. How can they expect any other result? I'm not sure about OW2, but I played a LOT of OW and never thought of it as woke. Of course, that word didn't really exist in this context either. It has male and female characters all with strengths and weaknesses. I don't even recall any of them having unnatural sexual orientations.

OW2 and most successful “woke” games hide behind good gameplay and decent story. Arcane is a great example of a show that’s SUPER woke but people care a lot less because it’s a good story with an interesting group of characters. Diversity done right isn’t always a bad thing. I think they are going to completely revamp all of the characters, palette swap the maps, rename the game, and then re-release it. Which, to be honest, good on them if they do it.
