I cannot believe TISWIM is giving this video free on youtube, it's a treasure for freestyle swimmers, thank you so much. Also Terry's coaching instruction is so clear with accurate supporting demo video that I can follow it to practice, I hope one day I can be a TI swimmer.

Thanks Terry!!! Just for the records - I'm swimming for 2 year now and my time was 30 minutes for 1500 meters - after I've seen your videos i cut it to 25 minutes in 2 WEEKS ONLY - now I'm planning to go on weekend TI freestyle course here in POLAND for another 5 minutes ;) - REGARDS

I have never swum open water and actually have never swam freestyle at all in even a pool. This video has given me so much information to work with. The breathing I am still concerned about as I am not a confident swimmer by any means. Thanks you so much. Ps my reason for learning to swim properly, I have agreed to do a triathlon. Terrified !

How about the high-elbow catch? What method of catch should we use in total immersion? Since high-elbow catch bear a heavy burden to whole arm. Should we still use high-elbow catch?

Wow, listened to these at work last night, then went down the pool after shift... My God it felt like I was cheating in the water, not really sure how far I swam, this time I was not counting was there to improve not go far... I swam 600meters last time I was there and was tired when I got out... This time I guess I swam almost 2k without really noticing... I swam would swim 150 m just focusing on one thing, look up and think wow I just swam 3 laps and did not really realise, am taking a course

Hi Terry. Not sure if you still answer questions, but if you do i have one, or if anyone else can answer me :-) in regards to buoyancy, if you have a wet suite on with really good buoyancy, will this not lift you up to high in the water for this swim style ? thanks in advance for any replies, and thanks for a good channel Regards Michael

You are right, based on my own experience with wetsuits for freediving. I swim TI style, but with a thick 5mm wetsuit, it is so difficult to keep a perfect streamlining position when you don't "hang" in the water, but rather float on top of the water because of the buoyancy. As I swim only a few lengths with a wetsuit to warm up for my freediving triaining, I can't say if you can improve by spending more time in the water with a wetsuit swimming TI style.
