This patient can walk without a cane 2 weeks after total knee replacement. She underwent a less invasive approach with a multi-modal pain control program. The surgery was performed by Dr. Andrew Noble in Jupiter, FL.

Oh you're not alone. Don't feel bad. I think some of these videos are a joke. It took my body a week just to get over the anesthesia they gave me in the hospital. I still can't sleep at night and I'm only a little over a week out and still having nightmares.'s. .. there's a lot more to having a knee replacement surgery that they don't talk about. I wish you all the best 🤘🏻.

I am 66 years old. I am 28 days out from knee replacement surgery and am experiencing A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN STILL. I work VERY HARD, DAILY with PT. For instance today I did 3 sessions on the RomTech bike at 14 minutes each session PLUS MY PT exercises and have recently graduated from a walker to a cane. Still swelling and needing ice packs. This woman’s recovery is in the minority I will bet you. My recovery is also in the minority as in how much I am struggling with pain and swelling I will bet. I think the doctor is setting people up for complete disappointment after upcoming surgeries. Everyone is different and THIS is not the norm!

I had the best surgeon in the country. First tkr was 6/1. Pain was uncontrollable with strong opiates. I was crazy enough to have another on 10/19 and I'm going through the same thing. Pain is off the charts. I'm 64. I go to my Dr appointments in a wheelchair

@@rosemarietosh4734 I am just curious what you think are strong opiates? I am not being a smart aleck, I truly would like to know. I am very knowledgeable on opiates, thinking of becoming an advocate for those who need pain relief and are not getting it. I’ve been to congressional briefings on Capitol Hill and listened to leading Dr.s and scientists express their concerns of patients not getting adequate pain relief. My blood pressure shot up to 170/110 for 8 plus hours UNTIL I received adequate pain relief. For me whose blood pressure runs 124/74 I was worried.

@Kat Piotrowski The pain doctor gave me hydromorphone but only 2 MG. I would take two at a time just to take the edge off. They stopped working after 2 weeks. Oxycontin and Norco don't help. I am now 6 weeks post op and finally feel some healing. I'm not in severe pain like I was. This just wears you out.

Took a year to feel really good. ❤😂.swelling was an issue with the second knee. O.k. now 15 months on. No pain . No issues. Thank You to my surgeon.

I have a very honest doctor who said: "Look, for the first week or so after surgery, you will be sorry you did this. You WILL be in a lot pain, probably worse than what you are experiencing right now, but with time it will recede. And it is possible that it will take a year-perhaps more-to fully recover." It's turning out he was correct. It IS painful surgery, but with time-and a lot of PT work-things improve. I am passing this along because we all hear wonderful stories leading us to believe this is a cakewalk, which it is not. Go in with your eyes wide open, plan for the long haul, and you will be alright. Despite the original pain and all the PT work, I would absolutely do it again.

My wife and I have both had our 1 knee replaced and we both can call bull on her only 2 weeks after surgery as her scar is well healed as you would expect after 7 to 8 weeks but I’m betting that she is 12 weeks after surgery minimum. I know of no one that is without pain or still lot of swelling in the knee as it’s still just at healing state. It’s videos like this that make everyday surgeons look bad to their patients if they see this and are no where near what your showing here. Best to be truthful to ppl on the net. Not this nonsense. @@kayh9793 Same here, both knees done 9 years apart. Last one worse for recovery. 16 weeks now and slow slow progress. Age is a big factor in recovery rate in my experience. Sore still, still struggle to walk down stairs un aided. I know time will heal, and the pain is getting less as the weeks go by. Also, the pain is nothing compared to pre-op. Anyone facing up to the Op, do your exercises before surgery, and definitely do exactly as the Physios tell you.

I'm 21 days out and and struggled the first 2 weeks. I still have pain, but it is getting better. I am also 76 yrs old. When I talk to my friends, they had quicker recoveries, but they were also in their 50s. Age does matter in recovery. Those first 2 weeks I felt like I was going nowhere; the third week, I started over the hill. Don't get discouraged; just keep pushing on. I felt the same way as you do, Lynn. My Dr. told me he doesn't schedule a check-up until 6 weeks, because I was going to hate him until after 3-4 weeks.

I’m now on day 16 and mobility is excellent and remains unassisted. I started home PT on day 3 - 3 times a day and in day 7 was able to do 4 times a day but only doing what my knee allows me to do per set and used an ice machine 1/2 hour after each session. I’m now up to 13 exercises, twice a day and hope to move that up to 3 times a day soon. I stay positive and am committed to PT. It’s been difficult but so far, worth it.

My doctor is funny hates any person over their BMI. States o/weight people take longer to recover, suffer more pain and increase their chances dramatically for all types of complications after surgery. Ironic because I suffered greatly after an arthroscopy even though I was fit healthy and at my BMI. However my mental state for this op is high.

@Lucia…You must have went to a veterinarian because all of what you say is not true . I was 72 years old and the day I had my surgery, I was the eighth surgery my surgeon had done that day . Yeah it was a little painful for the first week but I took pain meds and after that I only took them sparingly like just before therapy . My scar from the surgery is only like a pencil line , I’ve seen some that look like it was done with a chainsaw.

Two weeks out after total knee replacement. This is BS. The pain is unbearable. The docs don't want to prescribe anything that is too strong as the addicts have ruined the pain situation for the people who really need it. Second, I'm way younger than this woman and I was on a walker for two weeks, then a cane for about a month. Went to PT which was extremely helpful but painful. Sleeping was a challenge until about two months after surgery. Yes, I know, everyone heals differently. Blah blah. Doctors never tell their patients just how painful knee replacement surgery and recovery really is. Nobody would get it done. Just be honest, doctors out there. I still have pressure climbing stairs, and it will be five months since surgery. By the way, my surgery was handled by an excellent doctor at one of the best hospitals in Boston.

@@rosemarietosh4734 I also had to see a pain management Dr. Still, it was a struggle to receive just adequate pain relief. I WILL NOT have my other knee done until I find a Dr. Who will help more with the pain. I am convinced that better pain management equals faster recovery time. I can only push through pain so much. It is insulting to me that I should be treated as someone who would abuse opioids and NOT GIVEN adequate pain relief at the beginning.

I only took some pain meds for two weeks. The pain was minimal .

Very few people are this good at 2 wks. Do what your PHYSICAL therapy tells you, lots of ice, get up and walk a bit several times a day, everyone is different. Most people take 1+ year to recover. And if you have scar tissue, do the manipulation at 10 weeks.take

I’m tired of all these Super Knee Replacement heroes. The first week is pure hell, it’s not until four to six months that you can start to feel at all normal. You acclimate to the pain, stiffness, pops, clicks and swelling. What you have at six months is pretty much what you will have. The limitations and discomfort of a totally rehabbed TKR, is much better than 10/10 bone-on -bone pain you started with. Your pain may eventually go away completely, but you may have to settle for 3/10 discomfort with certain activities. Measure progress by months not days. This is the third most brutal surgery there is, don’t soft soap it. If you go home the same day, the pain medicines you take with, won’t be enough. You really need IV narcotics, nerve blocks, epidural anesthesia etc. for the first few days. Motrin, melatonin, and gummy bears can’t touch this pain. 😂
