Whattttttttttttt is up everyone. So I am back again with another upload for the c63s amg coupe, what is new lol in this video I do a breakdown on the costs of ownership for 2 years and 50k miles on my c63s amg! I really did not want to make this video since it hurts to see this very expensive amount but I had to get through it for you guys and for anyone else that may be looking to purchase a c63s or c63. This video is for anyone doing research on what it is like to own this car for so many miles and what it might cost for them before they buy it! Do not make the same mistake as I did and get your costs to be this much!
Thanks again for all your support, dont forget to like...subscribe...and ring that bell!

Skip the warranties, do pads/rotors aftermarket and yourself (not that hard) and you will save a significant amount of $$$. I have a base, run of the mill E90 (non M3) and dealer service fee are not that far off from what you mentioned. The thing to know about brakes/rotors/oil etc MB/BMW get all these parts from suppliers, so you can get all of these parts at OEM quality from said suppliers aftermarket. There are plenty of DIY videos on youtube which will walk you through the job. My E90 has 100k miles on it, i've done 2 door lock actuators, 3 widow regulators, 5 oil changes, 1 set of pads/rotors, 1 ignition coil, full set of spark plugs, valve cover gasket, various light bulbs, seatbelt clip, trunk struts and a couple of other small things all from watching youtube videos. First car I ever did work on myself, its honestly non that hard with youtube. If I went to the dealer for all of this, my costs would be easily over $10-$15k, doing it myself I'm around $2k in parts over 8 yrs of ownership.

Thank you for the detailed and honest cost breakdown...very professional job on the video. However, you omitted the largest cost of ownership...and this applies to all cars...DEPRECIATION. Ignoring interest, taxes, etc., you've likely lost $50k in depreciation ($100k cost less estimated current value of $50k). Insurance is another cost you omitted, but that is a MUCH smaller number. Buying used/certified-used is a good way to reduce depreciation cost. Love the car though!

Man, you need to find a good independent shop. Great, honest analysis though. You must be having a ton of fun to go through tires like that! Luckily, I work from home, so whatever I get won't be seeing a ton of miles, and I will be in Florida, so wheel damage from potholes isn't much of a factor.

Good video, but man your experience with your C63S has been way different than mine so far. You have more miles on yours than I do (I have around 27k) but I haven't had any trouble with my car (knock on wood) and I only needed to replace the rear tires once so far. I do my fair share of racing but I don't do a lot of burnouts and I have an S2000 that I also drive every now and then so that takes some of the load off the c63s. I used to be an auto tech so I can do my own repairs and services if need be but my car is still under warranty and I haven't had any issues. if you have tools I think you can do your own oil changes and brakes. It's really not that hard and you can get a repair manual online. unless you want to keep the stock wheels permanently I don't think there's any point in having gotten that wheel/tire warranty, you could always get different wheels if something happens to the ones you have, you don't have to stick with OEM. I was just curious to know what happened to your suspension? How did it get damaged and what did you have to replace?

I own a BMW 520d F11 and C63 AMG estate 476hp from 2016. I live in Germany. Yearly tax on my 520d is 228 eur, while for c63 it is 282 eur. A small difference. Insurance is 40eur/month for 520d and 80 eur for c63 - both are partially comprehensive. C63 takes about 12-13l combined while the 520d takes 7.5-8. With all that,i don't think c63 is very expensive to run here, because it isn't such a big difference between a normal 190hp diesel and a 500hp petrol v8 car. I change my oil, filters, brakes,a few hoses that break alone. I'm not a mechanic but i do know some simple work on the car. Only thing that is much more expensive on the c63 is the headlight group, brakes and suspension parts. Luckily in 30 000 km on the c63 nothing broke yet, just needed the regular maintenance, oil and filters + tires (i get a lot of discounts on online sites and even when i can't change something on the car myself i don't take the car to the official dealership but rather to my local mechanic that i know for a long time). And yeah, don't crucify me because i don't take the c63 to the mercedes dealership, because car already has 200 000 km on the clock, and it doesn't make sense to take it there anymore, plus the car is running absolutely perfect, you don't need to be a mercedes technician to take good care of your car). Cheers.

I don't recommend anyone buying this car as their sole vehicle unless you have a basic understanding of mechanical skills and tools to maintain your brakes/rotors/wheels/tires, wear and tear. If your 1st instinct is to go to a dealership, you already lost the battle. Find a local shop and establish a good relationship with them so that you can focus your funds on preventative engine maintenance and powertrain repairs. Most of the things he listed are DIY and KZbin tutorials most of it 1/4 the cost he listed.

I have a used 2017 c63s coupe and I haven't had a single problem with it (knock on wood). The only thing it's needed so far was rear tires once. You can't buy a car like this and not expect to go through tires often and just like gas and insurance, you should account for tires in your budget. How often you need tires depends on how much and how fast you drive. Before covid my commute was 40 miles to work and 40 miles back everyday. I drive my c63s hard and got into races often and it's been trouble free. Not sure why this guy is getting his work done by a dealership, when independent shops are much cheaper. For instance when this guy had suspension issues, he could have gone with an aftermarket setup which would cost much less and would still have all the factory features and he could've used an independent shop to do the repairs/install which would cost half what Mercedes charges. I also used to be a master auto tech so I can also do my own services and most of my own repairs so I save some money there too. If you're going to buy this car I would suggest picking up a repair manual online and learn how to do the simple maintenance like oil changes, brakes, etc yourself It's not that hard if you've ever turned a wrench before. The one thing I would definitely say is that don't buy these kind of cars unless you have enough money to pay them off in cash shortly after when you are buy them, if not when you buy them. German cars are always depreciating assets and if you have enough to pay it off in cash then that means you have enough backup budget for unexpected repairs and that's just how it goes when you buy high-end German or Italian cars. Also buying a German car brand new is not smart unless you plan to give it back after your lease. If you're going to keep it after your lease is up and don't know how to do your own repairs or don't have a good independent shop, you better spend extra money on a good warranty extension. The rule of thumb is to buy/own most German cars after they're 3-5 years old because that's when they have depreciated the most and hold their value the best. For instance I bought my 2017 c63s used w/ 20k miles for $57k before taxes, and I had enough saved to pay it off at that time. My monthly payment is around $790. If over the next 2-3years the car doesn't have too much trouble I will just pay it off early, and if it does become a headache I will sell it. According to the data and patterns I've seen, if I own it for around 4 to 5 years and sell it after I should probably get somewhere around $35-$40k on the private market depending on its condition and that would mean I only spent roughly $30k to own the car for 4-5 yrs. Before adding in any repairs or maintenance costs, most of which I do myself. If you treat your car well and don't drive like an idiot you shouldn't be in a repair shop often. If you abuse your car or end up modding / tuning it excessively then things are going to break and they're going to drain your wallet. When things do break, as an ex dealership tech I can tell you that don't go to dealerships for repairs; independent shops are always cheaper.

Lone Wolf yeah, if I ever get this car or any high performance German car, it will def be a few years old. Just can see myself buy one new. @@ronin120 those older (w204) c63 are great cars and they have the real 6.3L motor and that awesome NA v8 sound. They were the last real c63 cars. Just be aware that many of those cars from 2010 to 2013 had head bolt faiulure issues and intake cam lobe issues that required extensive repairs. Most of the cars that had the issues were recalled by Mercedes and usually repaired under warranty. if you ever are looking at one of those year c63's you should check the VIN number and you can go online and find out if that particular car had those issues and if it was repaired or not. Definitely do not buy one that wasn't repaired because you will end up needing a new motor. The ones that were repaired are fine.

What is the current resale value of your car now? TCofO should include the depreciation cost from new ... I think you will find your TCofO is more than double your operating costs.

Forget the warranty, the biggest scam. If you come across an issue, just fix it rather than giving them money for things that may never go wrong. You can also buy better aftermarket wheels for the same price as the warranty. Not my money, but just my perspective.

you buying warranties has nothing to do with ownership in general, for the masses. i thought you ran up 10k in service fees or some sort of problems with the car! half the $ was warranty coin. and btw your service visits are CHEAP as hell you should see what porsche charges it’s insane. these cars are wonderful no one should expect to spend 10k in 24mo of ownership.
