Goldsmith always experimented and pushed the films epic vistas with the incredible variety of vibrant electronic soundscapes that he created on the keyboard, then with the orchestra. This great score never ages, and is a true testament to a great composer with remarkable chameleon like abilities.

I'll never forget sitting in the theater in 1990 when this movie came on the screen, and that excellent theme music by Jerry Goldsmith played over the artistic opening credits. What a great movie! Arnold carried the film along at a great action hero pace! Terrific supporting cast too!

obviously. A lot of these hollywood scores are influenced by Russian romantic composers, Musorsky, Borodin, etc. Worth a listen. John Williams uses tone colors from them too.

Goldsmith was very clearly inspired by Basil Pouledouris's "Conan The Barbarian" opening theme for the main title theme for this film and adding his own twist with the distinctive sound of his string section.
