Total Solar Eclipse • 14 December 2020 • South America

This is a simulation for the total solar eclipse in South America on December 14, 2020. The length of totality was exaggerated in the video, and the reason that the path of the moon across the sun for Antofagasta and Asuncion is strange is because the Sun will be nearly directly overhead in those places during the Eclipse.
A Total Solar Eclipse occurs when the Moon’s umbra, or total shadow, falls on the Earth. A person in the umbra will see the sun entirely disappear, it will go dark, and the corona will be visible. The total phase is only visible along a narrow path, and the longest the total phase will be visible for is 2 minutes and 9 seconds near Ministro Ramos Mexía, Argentina. Many people describe a total solar eclipse as being one of the most amazing things they have experienced, so if you live near or in the path of totality, this is not something you will want to miss. Surrounding the path of totality, a partial solar eclipse can be witnessed, but this is not nearly as spectacular as the whole spectacle. I personally noticed a temperature drop and the deepening of the sky’s color during a 75% partial solar eclipse, however I would not have noticed this if I was not paying attention. I have heard from people who experienced a 95% partial solar eclipse, and they said it didn’t get much darker than what I experienced.

MikaelMonae Yeah,the closest place to watch totality is a City which is called "Temuco" and the best eclipse is in a City called "Villarica" :P I am exited for my first totality :D
