Broden Speer am already doing it for the huns lp, am a bit late sometimes cause you know have other stuff going on but most of the time there should be an update within 3hrs after the video being uploaded. For the saxons i was thinking of a comparative stats since many youtubers are doing lp of them.

Well said with the DLC rant. Extra content released mere weeks after the game comes out is a major issue with the gaming industry today. It erodes consumer confidence in the market, and ultimately will only me harmful for everyone involved. More Let's Players should look to be critical of the gaming industry (not just DLC but more serious issues as well, such as sexism in games), their voice has a lot of influence and should be used to try and better the industry as a whole.

RE: The DLC timing. Both of the DLC's seem to have been created to be released for various events. (the Longbeards for the Make Love Not War thing, and the Celts for St. Patrick's Day) so I suspect that's part of it.

They did say that about the Longbeards one (it was that weird contest thing with COH2, where the "winner" got a free DLC, COH2 won so Longbeards was paid) For the Celtic thing they do mention in the announcement thread that it's for St. Patrick's day.

I appreciated the DLC rant. About a month out, and already this much DLC is excessive (especially as it effectively raises the price of the full game by about 50%, $45 'full' game, $25 DLC).

I didn't care about the Longbeards DLC, could take it or leave it. The Celts are interesting though. Their ideas about the protective benefits of body paint were unusual. How well will they fare against heavily armored factions. Who were the Ebdanians historically, and where did CA find enough hard data to make these factions unique?

The only dlc I see as "fair" is a campaign like Hannibal at the Gates. That adds to the game but you should have all factions from the starts

In this world, we've seen again and again that too much choice isn't a good thing, it just overloads the customer and they tend to blank and walk away. Bah. If I may Lionheart, given how this has come about, would you be more supportive of them if they did something like Paradox did with their Updates? (if you don't know how they work it, they make Two separate scales when it comes to DLC. The major side being 'you bought the DLC, here's everything' and the free side being lesser updates. (an example is El Dorado, the minor side improves Exploration and the like, the major allows custom nations))

Well CA have kind of done this in the past with FLC updates alongside DLC updates, expanding faction / unit rosters etc. I'm all for FLC updates but still I wouldnt want either right now, the base game needs breathing space, its only been out 1 month.

thebladeofchaos They already sort of do this .ie. the factions you pay to play will still receive their new troop rosters regardless of whether you pay or not. So you can still get to fight against AI that use the new units; you just can't play them yourself without payment.

You asked if the vikings where pushing into Gaul as much as in your lets plays right? In my campaign (I play as the Franks) they are not pushing at all. In fact, they are just sitting in their home regions without doing anything. This goes for all the factions. I'm basically the only one who does anything. I'm further in my campaign than you are with the danes, but the Western Roman Empire still exists in its entirety (apart from the regions that I took myself). I've played about 6 battles (the rest I auto-resolved because it is no fun to play with a strong full stack army against a weak 4 unit garrison army all the time). So far, this game has been more total empire management than total war. I must say that I'm disappointed, but that I do keep my trust in this game alive from seeing the AI actually doing stuff in your lets play. Hope my next campaign will involve more razing by the AI (or the AI doing anything really). Thanks for these lets plays!

The fact they gave me a game with 12ish factions on release and say this is the full game (cool) But then make me pay for 9 extra factions a month after release.. that's pretty fucked its was annoying but acceptable in shogun 2. Rome 2 blood and gore DLC's are annoying too but that's fine to have to pay for that. But "culture packs" and having to pay for that? that's telling me "fuck you customer, i gave you a half completed game if you want the rest, pay for it." Fix your shit CA or you'll lose another loyal customer.

Its not about buying it or not, as I said in the video it just does to a degree feel like a slap in the face that within a month we have 9 more factions, nearly the same number of launch factions (10), added to the game. As I mentioned in the video I dont necessarily believe its cut content I know a bit about how potentially a developer can work on DLC before the games release ie: Game goes off to be certified / ready for retail etc etc so sometimes that leaves a 4-6 week gap, rather than have the teams doing nothing better to get them working on new content aka DLC. That is totally fine, I just find the timing of this all very sour. Surely its not going to hurt them to pace it out just a bit more no? As I've continuously said I have no issue with the DLC content, I actually like culture packs, these I just feel are too soon.

I don't think its a huge issue adding all the DLC's so soon, the basic game is great and its fairly cheap, I don't know what it cost in the UK but it only cost $50 in Aus, they could of just asked $80 for it and thrown all the DLC in for free but not everyone wants all the extra content. You don't have to buy them all now, you can wait a few months till you want to try a culture and get them then, the game still gets the updates and will improve. there not forcing anyone to buy them so everyone needs to just carm down a bit......

Yeah I know what you mean. I mean content=great, we all lvoe the more diverse factions, but not when it comes with the knowledge this stuff is being thrown at us to make money. The Heathen Kite I may love their games and cover them extensively on my channel but I will *NOT* stand for this DLC release timing so so soon after release. Maybe in the past I've sat back a bit more let a few things go but this wont be the case for me or my channel moving forward. I want Total War to be the best series it can be, 3 DLC releases a month after release will *NOT* aid this cause. I really hope those at CA who receive my words that have been passed down to them rethink their DLC plans.
