Good guide, but fertility doesn't actually work that way, at least in my game it does not. I also thought it worked by multiplying the bonus per fertility level by the base feritility of the land by logic, until i made the calculations and discovered that i was getting less food than I was supposed to.. the only food you get in the settlement is the value in "food:" and "Additional food:" you never get the bonus food from fertility level I dont know if it's a bug or not, but it just doesn't show in the province details and if you calculate everything works right by ignoring those values... and wealth works exactly the same way, only values after "Wealth:" and "Additional Wealth:" are in the equation, the wealth by feritility level is completely ignored

Another thing that helps with food, that I did not hear, is if and only if your state religion is Slavic Paganism in your minor settlements you can build the religious building and it increases the fertility in the province.

What's your thoughts on the curing sheds and the food things that the Burgundians get ? I played a campaign and held all of Spain, Britannia and almost all the east until the Sassanid empire caught wind of me. My public order was fine in all the regions from the mead halls which give -100 food but I felt as though I had farms in every province and the highest level of granary for every city because I was making massive bank but I ended up with nearly -500 in food. What does it mean if I build a field but it says 20 food and 0 additional food + something. Is that because the land is infertile?

***** Yep, that's because the land is infertile. You're better off building buildings with a high base food income.

Maybe someone should look this up, I'm pretty sure i did the calculations right, everything was right regarding the settlement values that showed up in food and wealth by ignoring the bonus for fertility level and i did the calculations in more than one settlement to be sure, this actually sucks because i really like that mechanic and it hads a ton of variety to building and planing what you're going to build more carefully -.-

what does it mean "food from reserve" from granary? I take it doesnt magically create food out of nowhere, so what? Am I right that food reserve is what you can see at the top of your screen next to the income? and with granary you can basicaly produce food in one region, and then build granary in the other and it will recieve that good?

The food comes from people selling their food that they produce on their own land.(subsistence farming). The farms you build is the government argriculture. They go to feed the service building you maintain. IE food for the garrison and the theatre

I'm going to give you an example, I'm sorry about doing this here btw but since you already have a guide about food maybe you can help :). I'm giving an example, I only have a settlement in a given province and i have two buildings there, a village (Level II) and an horse breeder (Level II). The village has -20 food comsumption, the horse breeder has food:30 and 30 additional food +6 per feritility level and I have a base fertility of 5 and the +15 from autumn harvest, this should produce 30+30+6x5+15 = 105 - 20 (village) = 85 food being produced, the value that shows up is 55 food being produced, ignore the 6x5 of fertility and the final value is 55, proving fertility is completely ignored.

***** Don't worry i was wrong, I realized it today, the bonus fertility IS the "Additional wealth" that shows up in the building details, which means the same building can show a different additional wealth depending on the fertility of the land the settlement is on :). Wow never thought they would do that ^^. I was too used to the same building ALWAYS having the same details xD

I'm playing the Eastern Roman Empire, and i've essentially reconquered all the territories the western empire lost. I had over 1000 food, then it all went to hell. The sixth seal appeared and dropped me down to -500... Those seal is making it litteraly impossible to play a larger empire. Now all i'm doing is dreading when the seventh seal comes which will probably drop me down to like -2000 or something...

Yang Song Those events the game is based around. When Attila is born in 400 and the climate first get's colder for example, in 420 when he comes of age and the climate further deteriorates. The sixth seal happens in 450AD.

I really dislike the food system in attila, not the fertility thats cool, but I have 500 food overflow and some industrial province gets a negative modifier? Its my own empire just take it off the global stack. Rome had egypt and north africa as its suppliers as well. It basically just limits what you can do with prvinces. Have ressources to go industrial? To bad you have no fertility here and cant use all the potential because the negatice wealth modifier makes it useless

Henry Johnson Thanks! If you enjoy Rome 2, you will surely like ATTILA as well. It's still based on the Rome 2 gameplay but with improvements everywhere. I'm enjoying it a lot at the moment so in my opinion: Yes.

Henry Johnson Some prefer the simpler Rome 2 as there is a lot less micromanaging. If you are a real Total War fan however, you will agree with a lot that this is a big step up from Rome 2 :)
