Great work on that last battle LionHeart! That is exactly the way how you should manage your cav! And I think that now you have a clear vision of what to do, and clearly the right skills for your cav management, you should be just fine! Just keep working on subjugating different factions to create a safe zone for yourself, so that you will not always be hunted anymore.

War councillor Barry: I think you should with just one of you generals focus on an infantry force made specifically for sieges such as the one you've ended this episode on and use one cavalier army to disband extra reinforcement they may have in their region to make sure there will never be reinforcements during selfies and lastly a mixture of both infantry and cavalry to do both of the above stated. How bout you keep your armies on two different areas but near the border so they can reinforce each other and at the same time you can manage your economy..they won't have the rivalry

In my experience, the AI always knows where your armies are on the campaign map regardless of agents (and will chase you until they die). The end turn freeze is one of the things they're fixing in Thursday's patch.

Just a TIP. Find a place where 2/3 or 4 zones meet. Bring all your hordes to this border cross roads and deploy each one in its own zone (NO crowding penalty) while still able to reinforce each other. That way i had some time to build up my Economy / Population safely then split them in to groups of 2 so each border is a potential camping spot. Basically YES each horde needs its own ZONE but 1 m from the border on each side are still different zones .......

Think about this, since you are a historian as well. Just have a brief search on google on how the Huns firstly expanded and in witch territories and that might help you a lot, because there were reasons on why they went there in the first place

One way to use archery cav is to have them hit the flanks with skirmish mode on and use them to isolate enemy units and have another unit hit them from the rear.

One note: Steppe bows upgrade to Steppe Mounted bows, IE: Horse Archers. So it's not neccessarily useless to keep them.

merging diminished units is better than keeping a lot of small ones. If you have one unit with 45 men and one with 150 you pay the same amount for both units.

i attacked an eastern faction stupidly without looking at their info, off course they were a client state of the Sassanid empire so i ended up at war with the entire east. They destroyed 1 horde and bet my other 2 so i fled. But they kept following me, at least 1 full stack army from Sassanids and every one of their clients, they abandoned their own lands and chased me all the way to Spain. I should have lost them numerous times due to continuous forced marches but somehow they always knew exactly where i was and they didn't have spies. They also invited many of the western factions to join them in war against me, so that was fun. (p.s the a.i spams spy attacks)

If you attacked the general, the entire garrison and the army would come and attack in support, leaving the city without defenders or garrison if you ensured that all were run down properly in the battle.

The agents are just their to annoy you... it seems that as in Rome, an agents presence does not correspond to an army from that faction. That or, the ostrogoths are targeting you, and supporting their allies. Chances are the ostrogoths are all making a mess of the romans, and letting their allies attack you.

Have you tried the feint tactic with cavalry? Where it's like the hammer and anvil but with cav, warrior of Sparta used it in the historical battle

yeah the huns took me 3 tries as first aswel but now once you get past the 405 ad with all your hordes so 3 you will be fine

I don't think you need to be so worried about rivalry. I think last time you were suffering from 6 lots of it (3 hordes x 2 other hordes in your region) whereas now its only 2 lots (2 hordes x 1 other horde). I'm not sure if this is true or if it scales linearly like this but if so it might be safer to move your hordes around in pairs (assuming you get more than 2 :P).

Mate, Advice: Try not to divide your hordes for your enemies to piecemeal them. instead pool your forces together as one and all shall fall before you.

Okay I have a question: Is it possible to make Attila not be born? Since I am (kind of) close to killing off the Huns as West Rome and this is like 398 AD (2 years before Attila is born) and I kind of don't want to kill them off just yet because of that fear of losing the "main villain" for Rome. And besides that thank you Lionheart for all your hard work, hilarious videos and I gotta say that you a great KZbinr and in that a role model for me in terms of doing videos. Keep it up!

"Horse armor" DLC (day 1 DLC) is ok if the game is very good. You need to understand that game like this are very expensive to make. And because CA is legally obligated to sell it for $60 (or the equivalent) or less, they try to get more money out of a game they put so much work into... Atilla is a good game, they learned a lot from rome 2. And they had to patch the game for a year before the fans gave them good reviews. You have to think that cost them a lot of money for all the patches. So a $7 DLC (that you don't have to buy) is understandable, and is not evil. It's very clear CA respects it's fans. So I might buy it... Later when I have money lol

To be quite honest I really agree with you that a faction DLC , which is honestly most of what rome 2 was , being released 1 week after the game came out and before patches from what ive heard, yea .... not cool. Way too early. I am honestly surprised the game is actually reltiively bug free considering what a mess Rome 2 was and quite frankly shogun 2 was better then rome 2s release but it needed a lot of patching and balancing to be good. But still the point remains, way too early

I wouldn't subjugate if I were you. They rebuilt armys and declare war on you in a couple of turns, its broken.. Also to live in the end game with the huns you'll need to more or less abuse morale with killing generals, burning towns, fire and whistling shots. Atleast thats what im experiating.

For me it feels like the AI cheat a bit. When I leave a settlement they seem to know without having any scouts etc anywhere near me. Puts me off a bit :/

DLC is bullshit, especially with CA, they just throw so much out that should be put into the game to begin with. I understand the blood pack thing just for the sake of having it rated what it is, but purposely taking out factions just to put them in as DLC is just upsetting. Example: God damn Greek culture pack in Rome 2 that should have absolutely been in the damn game to begin with

In this period Caucasia is not strong. Medival age was best period for Georgia in this period was biggest and strongest nation in Caucasia.

Your army The dread od the steppes was positioned much higher in the end of part 5 somewhere between two rivers and you start here surrounded by two enemis way lower, closer to the sea. Looks like you loaded a save and replayed a turn or two in a different way...

ora10053 was only an end turn on, I may have pulled that horde east before hitting end turn or it may have retreated back from another army but it was during the end turn, no extra turns were taken.
