This is one of the most head-scratching...choices (?) they made, because it's so low-effort. You already made distinct, unique rosters for the Illiad characters in Troy. Why would you NOT just bring them over? "Historical accuracy" kind of flies out of the window when the faction is led by fucking Achilles lmao. Another minor gripe like yours is that the Amazons were excluded because of their historical inaccuracy (fair enough)...but instead we got the Cimmerians who are, you guessed it, historically inaccurate. Amazons had a unique unit roster too, much more so than the Cimmerians. Was a mistake imo, especially because we already have the Myth characters anyway.

I for one have been enjoying both the multiplayer scene and the campaign’s customisation you can change lethality, randomize starting positions and make the collapse easier or worse depending on settings and gameplay. My favourite historical era has got to be the bronze age and seeing Mesopotamians, Mycenenes, Egyptians, Cannanites and Hittites battle it out has been a dream come true. Its definitely worth getting it after the price changes and the time period is fresh having never before been seen from the franchise (unless from mods). CA Sophia have some balance changes to make specifically around unit caps and lethality on certain weapon types. Right now ranged weapons are incredibly dangerous and chariots have a hard time punching through light and medium infantry but the foundations are solid. Keen to see new people on the battlefield.

This is one of my favourite total war. Fun fact: if you are playing as a horde and using Dominance skill the temporary army that you have from the settlement doesn't count to administration level but when you are losing this army - it lowers your administration level per every unit you lose. That means you have administration points on minus what leads to having the highest administration and +140% to upkeep. This is one of the greatest mechanics in the whole series and they didn't even have noticed that it has such an important problem. So the title of this film describes perfectly what I'm thinking about this game.

I also really would like them to improve the dynastie system where the characters develope by themselves. They could take some inspiration from the nemesis system from the middle earth games. It would also be cool if you would research technology such as a new armor-production-method. You could have an own creator for your specific designed troupes. Give them a spear-> costs extra 50gold Want a bigger shield-> 25gold extra + 5armor and defense Want them to have more endurance? -> each soldier gets a water-bottle where you can replenish some energy when you click on a „drink now“ button…

Why is most of the video Rome 1 music if you talked about campaign/battle tracks in such a good light?

Because Rome 1's OST is the GOAT, and everyone knows it. No shade to Ian Livingstone or Richard Before, but Jeff Van Dyck's score for that game IS total war to me. I tried the Pharaoh music as background music during the edit but Rome's is just so much better, and it weirdly didn't drown out my voice like Pharaoh's did, despite it being louder in the mix. I agree with you that it was a poor editing choice, given that I like Pharaoh's ost. If I could go back, I'd switch out the soundtrack for Pharaoh's during the audio section of the vid. Im playing on legendary dif and i conquered center anatolia yet there is so much to do. I didnt understand the court mechanic, plots and god things but the game is so fun right now. Campaign map is fun to play, arts and character designs are amazing. Bringing family tree system is really good. But im unpleased with the musics and siege maps. Like in troy there are to few siege maps. Hope they ll add more.

Never thought I would of got Pharoah but this update certainly changed my mind. Love it so far except for the sacking fort cheese and A.I travelling the whole map with full stacks to attack me whilst ignore neighbours they are at war with

What's the sacking fort cheese? Do I want to know or will it ruin me because I'll never be able to unsee it? 😂
@domarnott51004 ай бұрын
Both player and A.I get extra movement after sacking a fort/outpost so you can't catch up to them. Ended having economy ruined as Troy as i chased them around for 6 turns. It was only a 4 stack at half health too 😢 Unfortunately they don't add cheese as a resource you can enquire from sacking forts

Hopefully some of those unique units under the minor factions will be worked in. Looking into it, Hanigalbat is the Mitanni after its fall from supremacy hence its special chariots being labeled that. I suppose they were trying to allow for a chance to recapture the glory
@fyeahusa4 ай бұрын
Hanigalbat isn't really the Mitanni after its fall. While the Assyrian's continued to use the name Hanigalbat for the area, it was ruled by a branch of the royal family of Assyria as a vassal to the kings of Assyria. The character we start off with in charge of Hanigalbat in game historically usurped the Assyrian throne, becoming king himself, hence why they made Hanigalbat the major faction instead of Assyria proper.

hey happycompytw have you ever played a game called mount and blade bannerlord 2? its somewhat similar to the total war games except you're a little more hands on bannerlord
@johnirby88472 ай бұрын
I bought the game, even though you advised me not to. I should've listened. 🤦🏼♂️ Why do they make the new total war games with such weird collision?! Rome 1 and Medieval 2, you felt a cavalry charge, you felt any charge, horses would flip if they ran into pikes, the whole line would fly if hit unprepared from the side! It's like they blob up into masses without that smack.
@DJ-1Q842 ай бұрын
Eh I know what you mean but the collisions were not great in Rome 1 or Medieval 2. Like you realize when calvary charges into infantry they would get trampled over instead of flying into the air right? Same issue with large projectile impacts.
@johnirby88472 ай бұрын
@DJ-1Q84 they also get trampled if you look close enough or use the remaster! I'm telling you it doesn't feel the same. Battles don't feel the same!
@DJ-1Q842 ай бұрын
@@johnirby8847 I agree the battles aren't the same because the warscape engine is trash. CA needs to develop a new engine instead of building on the same shitty engine they've been using since Empire.

I just can’t get into it. I’ve tried twice now something about the UI/overlay, the sound effects, the animations. it sounds weird, but I’m just not feeling it. I dont like the Troy combat system i’ce never liked it and honestly I’m still over here grinding away at 1212 AD Atilla and DEI Rome 2 and having way more fun then i ever did trying Pharaoh. idek it has to much of an arcadey feel for me if that makes sense? Ill try again as Mesopotamia or Troy…😅
@happycompy4 ай бұрын
Nah man, if you don't like it you don't like it. Just return it if you still can, playing in Mesopotamia won't suddenly change the game. The new games definitely "feel" a lot different from Rome 2/Attila. I can see where you're coming from.

What if CA Sophia decided to make a Shang vs Zhou Dynasty DLC for this game, to cash in more profits? Because Bronze Age China in Chinese history itself is often under represented. Most games sets in China were either Three Kingdomsera (3K Total War) and modern era(Battlefield 4). (On the other hand, based on artifacts and acheological evidences, the costumes and hair styles in late Shang and Early Zhou Dynasty era were similar to the later Greeks and Romans from the classical era.)
@happycompy4 ай бұрын
That's a really cool idea! Chinese history is a big blind spot for me, TW games like Shogun 2 and 3K (even ETW with India) helped inspire me to learn more. Why do you think it would be a good DLC vs it's own game?
@ReviveHF4 ай бұрын
@@happycompy For me DLC should be the cherry on top of the already delicious cake like Fates Divided and Nanman Tribes DLC for Three Kingdoms. Oh there's a 1990 Chinese drama sets during the late Shang Dynasty called "Investitures for the gods" (Feng Shen Bang封神榜),in that drama you can see the costumes and hairstyles were really different from the ones from the Confucius and Three Kingdoms era. You can watch that drama on KZbin.

This game is completely unbalanced. I have 13 regions and 3 provinces with edicts with all kind of source materials and I can hardly keep 3 armies with 10-15 units, while my enemies with only 3 regions can yield 5-7 armies with 20 stacks, even with units that need specific buildings to be produced that they dont have, horses, for example, and definitely no gold, no copper. How is that possible? AI is crazy and cheats constantly. I see constant examples. The game is brilliant in many aspects but absurd in so many others.
