So when a much beloved icon like Mandalore mentions such a game mechanic being beneficial, and suddenly it's implemented seemingly out of nowhere, people begin to wonder if that "community feedback" was taken and used without giving proper credit or even a simple nod to the person they perceive to have coined the idea in the first place. It just seems in bad taste to take an idea and not give props. But we don't even know if that was the case, so...

For sieges, it feels like some races (Empire/Dwarfs/etc.) should just have better defenses, while other races (Vampire Counts/Greenskins/Chaos/etc.) should have big advantages in attacking defenses. I don't think that every race needs equivalently effective defenses.

particular since the game already has incredibly lopsided defenses from garrisons, however it should be noted that dwarfs should be great at seiges attacking or defending, they set up there precision artillery, expert sappers, and hardy warriors defend against anything trying to sally out to skirmish them, really outside of more warriors no one is on equal footing as the dwarfs in a seige, and thats before food storage, as the dwarfs have hundreds of years worth of booze they can live off off entirely even if they did somehow manage to have all there food supplies run out

@@nyx7694 I'm not saying they shouldn't, but there's different levels, Greenskins should honestly suck in a seige, they just want to fight, so they aren't able to man an effective defense, they can't really build well so they can't hope to scale the walls correctly, and there rams are again subpar, the best things they have for seiges would be monsters, and spiders, however in gameplay you'd realistically want seiges to be less then hopeless for anything except numbers, garrisons should largely feature a garrison that is left wanting in power, but the defenses set up provide more then enough to make up for it, the AI could suffer but then just give them a few more units to make up for it

@@calebbarnhouse496 eh, I think sieges fit. Like, they're the same units they are in an open battlefield, just on/behind walls and/or manning turrets. If anything, the Siege Defender AI could be better (which would make siege battles harder for the attacker) but I'd recommend that whatever changes you wanna make to sieges, you gotta look at the turrets, or make specialized units for each faction that have more differences between each other/other units in their respective factions besides just flavor text. TL:DR, if siege feels cheesy in game, that's cuz it was cheesy in real life, but if you really wanna make changes, look at the city streetplan and/or turrets, or take a deep dive into walls if you got time

@@nyx7694 I didn't say they didn't fit, in real life the attackers main goal in a seige was getting artillery to take the city out, or starve the city out, however in game that not a good way for them to work, sitting in battle waiting to run out of ammo just isn't fun and because the AI refuses to target your artillery it's also easy, seiges weren't cheesed because the most effective tactics to take a seige down was still very time intensive, resource intensive, and most importantly, difficult to get done correctly, improving the AI is definitely a good thing, but it's not a realistic goal, and kinda needs to be addressed largely by giving them buffs that aren't just better melee stats, beyond that seige unique units would be great and lore friendly for all races, as is most races don't have a majority of there people being warriors, civilian units would be great, empire gets peasent mob teir stats, but it's more bodies and when it comes down to it. when your city was under attack all able bodied men would fight, Brettonia would probably just do a rename, dwarfs could finally be able to get rid of dwarf miners as there chaff unit, the uni would be similar to dwarf warriors without a shield, which is ironically what the table top version of them were (of course the table top let you upgrade to shields or greataxes) and this would let miners be useful as a vanguard great weapon solid infantry unit, and not just cause they hold blasting charges

I recently got total warhammer 2 after watching this review and wow. Why would you ever want to skip the battles? I just finished a battle where I was vastly out numbered and it all came down to my final 2 troops against many units. 2 hereoes on low hp and one without ammunition. Fighting tooth and nail with both of them exhausted I managed to fight off the enemy and win the fight. What a game

what i dont like about it are factions without military access treaty with you does regularly trespassing your land trying to cross to their enemy territory. In rome 2 AI has more respect on this kind of treaties it makes it more realistic in making buffer zone alliances so that ur military capacity don't get exhausted on protecting many frontiers.

Well to be fair, a lot of walls in the Warhammer world do have stuff like enchantments placed on city walls to prevent ethereal beings from passing through. But yeah, it is really silly. I think they should let ghost units be able to pass through walls, and maybe have the high tier wall upgrades prevent that. Still dumb they have to go up ladders though, would probably be better just to animate them slowly floating up or something.

I only now understood why this game is too wide and variety isnt variety. Let me explain. Heroes of might and magic 3 had rampart- elves, in short. They had dwarves, centaurs, pegasi, dragons, ents. Now warhammer just takes elves clones them with different colors- be it wizards or archers, takes dwarves clones them- some are cannoneers some are warriors but they are same monotonous dwarves or elves with different clothes. Undead in Horoes of might and magic 3 had liches, zombies, wights. Even orcs were unique. In warhammer you get wight faction, lich faction. zombie faction. It is opposite of variety and paired with 5 minute turn time for enemies oh my god how can you play this game...

Five months later and I know this is way, way too late, but for anyone stumbling across this comment (and possibly the commenter if they check back some day), it's because that's the go-to mod thumbnail of a mod author who makes cheat mods. They're really, REALLY heavy-handed cheats like straight-up infinite money, instant research completion, your lord has +1000% stats, etc. that completely decimate the game's balance and will make you bored of campaigns 10x quicker.
