They were allowed to mine the big amount of warpstone under his castle, but had to stay put about his campaigns across the world. Well...but we all know how a Skaven will answer to a promise Sharpen your backstep-kill knifes, yes-yes!

Because for every skaven that died, he gained a new corpse to raise from the dead. At one cost to him since he could just raise any of the corpses he lost in the battle. Thereby completely negating one of the skaven's biggest advantages, their sheer numbers

This was definetively a tomb kings oriented battle, and I personally like that. This was elite troops from the tomb kings vs mid tier to low tier units from the skaven. If you want more diversity from the skaven, then you may be happy to know they have some of the biggest unit varieties in the franchise.

Even tho these cinematic battles are a bit more detailed, i think you should react to engaging bear's videos. They're more cinematic and have the respective factions's battle tracks. For Detail tho, it has to be this guy. Sad part is that he doesnt select varied armies for both factions, so when reacting to these, i think the faction on the left side of the VS will have the spotlight.

If you'll indulge me a moment, I'd like to geek out about some of the units in this fight. Since I love both Skaven and Tomb Kings. On the Tomb Kings' side, apart from traditional warriors/archers, all of the monstrous looking units are essentially constructs powered by Tomb King souls, like ancient Egyptian mecha, and it's awesome. The ones seen here are the Hierotitan (the big boys, soul-powered and with limited access to magic which is, like the rest of Tomb Kings', soul-powered to an extent), the Tomb Scorpion (which I believe has a sarcophagus inlaid in the top of its body), and the Ushabti (said oo-shahb-tee; essentially soul-powered icons that pay homage to Tomb King gods). And, last but not least, the blue artillery that was being launched was from Caskets of Souls - literally ancient caskets shooting off souls like mortars! Then on the Skaven side, it was pretty barebones. The army seemed primarily to be a mix of skavenslaves and clanrats - the bread-and-butter-cannon-fodder that most skaven armies use as dispoable frontline troops. Do not mourn them, for their whole purpose is (usually) to hold back the enemy with their numbers while the more important ranged units/artillery/monsters do the real damage. The standout units here were definitely the warpfire throwers: Skaven weapon teams that weaponize a resource called warpstone (essentially chaos-energy-charged rocks) to create a deadly magical fire that they then store as fuel for the weapons you saw in use here!

Arkhan the Black who you just saw lead the Tomb King army was just facing against your average Skaven swarm. If he was facing against any one of the Skaven clans, then he would have some level of challenge or worse. Mors have the Stormvermin, elite-top-of-their-class-praetorian-guard-like rats lead by *Queek Headtaker* Skryre have the more gun-specialized rats (gatling guns, snipers, mortars, etc.), warpstone nukes, and mobile artillery cannons lead by *Ikit Claw* Pestilens have plague-specialized rats and plague catapults, but would more effective against non-undead armies lead by *Lord Skrolk* Moulder have the mutant rats that can rival Tomb King constructs and easily snap skeletons into bone fragments lead by *Throt the Unclean* Eshin have the stealth-focused rats that can sneak behind formations, disrupt enemy lines, and take out essential targets up close without being noticed until it's too late lead by *Deathmaster Snikch* Rictus have the tactical mindset to face and win against any army depending who and what they're fighting against lead by *Tretch Craventail*

Those giant guys were hierotitans. These constructs of Nehekhara are magical in nature, animated by ancient incantations that ensure their function into the long centuries since the last tomb kings had flesh and blood. The hierotitans themselves are statues, carved in resemblance to one the Nehekharan death gods, meant to stand tall in the ancient burial pyramids the tomb kings buried their dead in. When Nagash, the big, bad arch-necromancer of the warhammer world turned the then Nehekharans into the tomb kings, the hierotitans were amongst the various architectural relics that became a weapon for these ancients.

That wasn't any normal Tomb King General (they usually use prince or just local minor king as general) though, that's Arkhan the Black one of the top follower of Nagash the self proclaimed God of death and undead. He's one or many sorcerer that able to master the art of black spells and Lore of the dead, usually he will use units like Ghouls or Crypt Horrors (Troll size ghoul), as well as other abominations that was created by the lore of the dead. There's so much more story about him they you could learn about, and as well as his master Nagash. Skaven here is just a War Chief with bunches of slaves and normal Skaven warrior and a small team of Warpfire thrower weapon units. But it's accurate as many chieftain doesn't have that much of access to better unit, so they just swarm their enemy instead. If they are high rank or rich enough, they could being in something scarier like giant Hellpit Abomination monster or Rat ogres to the battlefield, or they can acquire war machine from Clan Skyre to turn the ride such as Doomwheel, Doom flayers, or just more weapons team like Ratlings gun weapon team (Skaven with wind up minigun).

The chariot dude is fairly interesting. Arkhan the black, servant of Nagash. Wierdly he's one of the few people in the warhammer world who might be more evil than the skaven. The rest of the tomb kings hate him XD And while the fight was cool, it's kinda a shame they didn't show off the sheer variety that skaven are capable of bringing. They had the warpfire throwers (the things that looked like wierd toxic spray guns) which are basically flamethrowers but scarier, but there is a lot more they can bring. You can get rat ninjas, rat cannons, rat ogres, plague rats, all sorts. Also also, Bethany was 100% right about the thing the giant's holding, it is a scales of justice kinda thing. On that note, all the tomb kings monster units (including the tall dudes with bird heads, the giants, the scorpion and the cobras) are actually statues brought to life with magic.

The skaven in this battle were sorta just 1 unit the entire time, and it was just their little infantry men. The Slaven in game use mini guns and doom wheels, and bombs and even nukes at some point.

There is a really good human vs undead one called black powder from evan royalty that's done gritty and violently, more a showing on how humanity has managed to not get wiped out in a world of horrors and monsters. Faith and a hell of a lot of gunpowder.

The top three I would recommend would be Kislev, Grudgebearer, and finally Immortal Empires. Those are very spectacular cinematic feels to them and are worth watching if you want to see more fun cinematic stuff.

They "fire" them off as weapons, the souls are so angry and disoriented that they just try to escape the casket as fast as possible, causing damage and destruction wherever they fly. Then the powerful binding magic of the casket pulls them back in so they can be shot at the enemies again.

Tomb Kings are my favourite faction from Total War Warhammer, as well as the old Fantasy battles. I hope they make a return in The Old World whenever that comes out. Probably explains why I like the Ossiarch Bonereapers in Age of Sigmar so much. Book of Choyer does a really good narrated Tomb Kings battle, which also covers some lore for one of the Tomb Kings characters. Tomb Kings vs Vampire Counts and he talks about High Queen Khalida and her fight against her treacherous cousin, Neferata, the first Vampire. Its a great watch, even if Neferata never made it into the game. Also, someone mentioned Cody Bonds and his Noobs Guides, totally recommend.

Gotta say, this didn't do the rat men justice at all. It showed off their incredible numbers sure, but it didn't show their greatest strength, their absolutely terrifying war machines. No warp lightning cannons melting the giants, No doomwheels shredding through their front lines, No hellpit abominations eating every arrow without a blink, No ratling gunners coating the battle with more green bullets than GOD. The skaven are a faction who are powerful because of their frankly insane technology and numbers, and in this fight the only weapons teams used were warpfire throwers, which are good for sure, excellent trash killers, but nowhere near the best.

It was leaning abit of showing more of the Tomb kings i would say becouse there was alot of Skaven key units that were missing. There was no Skaven artillery and only 1 short scene of there extremely dangerous ranged units. Maybe i missed it but i never saw any rat ogres, they are so mutch bigger that they should have stood out among the other rats. However they did an excellent job of showing of the overwhelming numbers that Skavens always have in battle. In general each rat is very weak but the fact that there units could have almost 2x the amount of unit models still makes them annoying to get rid off.

Skaven are never trusted by their "compatriots" because inevitably there's gonna be some stabstab backback yesyes. The Tomb Kings actually reached a crescendo critical mass through Nagash, pretty much known to be the absolutely biggest jerk in WFB, such a gigantic asshole that even the Chaos powers knew better than to mess with him openly. Except this one time. The last actually living Nehekaran king was given by the Skaven a super sword. A sword so killkill that even Nagash the god of death would be killed by it. Which happened. The sword, which was supposed to be Nagash's and ended up being used on him then banished Nagash to his own realm, and allowed the Warhammer world to continue for about 1500 more years. The skaven accidentally saved the entire realm. Nagash would have his final revenge, become the literal god of death beyond the warhammer world, and the Skaven's Great Horned Rat would be become the fifth Chaos Power in kind, but it's kind of crazy that the last forces of Sigmar, Teclys, and the other "good races" aside from the Old Ones (who had spaceships and mega portals) were allowed to have time to come together and Sigmar to reach Godhood because of the Skaven being terrified of Nagash.

I've played 600 hours of Vermintide 2, my soul is caked in the viscera of the ratlings and my tongue has nothing but further fury and hatred for them: never played Total War 1 - 3, I want to, haven't looked into it other than screenshots and the things you two have seen, I gotta say though, even before I watch this video, I know its going to be awesome. Alright, I watched the video, I'll just say: ratlings are very amusing, I must've killed at least...conservatively...[1000 (kills) x 600 (hours) x 2.2 (games per hour)]...1.3, max 1.45 million ratlings, and I still find them humorous even after they've kicked my ass hundreds of times x) As a faction, if you're immersed, they are truly horrifying. As a 40k guy, they're like Nurgling-Tyranid-Khornites, and having literally waded through their corpses in Vermintide 2, I know that even one placed in front of me in real life would have me acting like an ork snotling being shot through warp-space: absolutely shitting myself. I don't even like New York rats the size of a labrador with short legs and with that leathery tail, I've seen two in my life and talk about those occasions to this day, now a RATLING?! F-ck that to the fullest extent lol. Cool video, good choice :) Rewatching this, god damn I want Total War, this looks so awesome.

Nah... Sorry, Nothing against you guy... But that's actually was lame... The Tomb Kings not only got to bring out their big gun (most of their constructs units + the Casket of Souls artillery) but they also got a Lord (Arkhan the Black) leading the army while the Skaven only had their weak infantry and a (or maybe couple of) unit of Warpfire Throwers. It's like watching a chess match with one side has all the pieces while another has only pawns. So, Yeah... That was not a "Battle"... It's a glorify Tomb Kings test fire session with Skaven dummies.

This not a normale skaven army this is a virmintide remember the skaven have 13 clans and they are in war. This is what happens if the come together. So, if it was just one clan they would not have this many rats .also these videos are made by someone who really love skaven.

I mean, this video is obviously made in favor of showing off Tomb Kings since they have a varied army, a spellcaster, defender advantage and positioning. Meanwhile the Skavens are literally just mass melee infantry with very little ranged support and virtually just told to attack move toward the enemy. Which obviously is a pretty piss poor showcase of these rats' real capabilities. Like the moment I see the two armies composition I already knew that this is a rigged fight to showcase the Tomb Kings.

I saw video description had the word "Skaven" in it. Nothing draws me to a video like the word "Skaven"... It is like with a mouse and a mousetrap. You only need cheese. That being said, this was a very biased video. A true Skaven army does not consist of a random warlord and a bunch of clanrats. (OKAY SOMETIMES THEY DO.) But against Arkhan the Black? At least we should have seen some doomwheels, Jezzails, a few rattling gunners, some Stormvermin, Rat Ogres, Warlock Engineers, Zap Canons, Gutter Runners, Pack masters, or at the VERY LEAST a hellpit abomination? Even one of the few great lords would have been nice.
