ogres are one of if not my absolute favorite play styles in warhammer or even roleplaying altogether. not only because of their lore which is one of my favorites in warhammer but because of their might makes right mentality being that they can take whatever they want and they liike to hoard gold and wealth.

The Beast Claw Raiders (I think this is just AoS lore, not in Total War, but stick with me) have an interesting version of might makes right. The way they choose a leader is all the candidates go out on a hunt, and bring back some big prey, then the tribe feasts. Whichever hunter has the most meat eaten is the new leader. So you have to hunt something really big, proving your might, but it's ultimately about a good leader being able to provide for the most people

Mr. Thick, I am a bit surprised that you did not mention the fact that the Ogres most vulnerable part is their gut. They wear a gut plate for that very reason. Also the reason, as to why - Bragg"The Gutsman" is feared by the tribes. He can, and does, use his special weapon, to hook over an enemy ogres "gut plate" and just disembowel them. Meaning that most ogres just do NOT want to mess with him.

How does that actually work? I think I've heard that their vital organs are lower, but surely their brain is still in their relatively small heads? Are their bones abnormally strong, such that their skull and ribs are very hard to pierce? I feel it'd still be easier to stab or give a good hack at their necks, blood and air has to go through there one way or another, though I guess they could have additional protective neck bones hiding somewhere in there? Best I can come up with.

@@tobiashagstrom4168 You could potentially kill an ogre by hitting him in the neck, true, but it'd be a quick death - a gut death is a slow, painful, lingering death as the organs unspool, just because of how much gut an ogre has, and their medicine isn't good enough to save them from one. Furthermore, the gut is the connection to the Great Maw - lose the gut, you lose your god's favour right before you go to meet it.

@@bogonzomd Sure, but that's not really a vulnerability in terms of combat. Like, sure, put me in a torture chamber and I'll have maximally bad time dying, but I'm not "vulnerable" to torture chambers. The gut has a lot of fat and musculature until you get to the abdominal cavity, and you'd need to open a relatively large hole to actually disembowel someone. The neck is easier to give a wound with stopping power. In terms of ogre vs ogre, stabbing or slicing the neck would be way easier than removing and giving a wide and deep slice across the gut. Now, I can see their gut being very vulnerable to commonly sized humanoids, since they'd have much more trouble actually reaching the neck, they'd be more inclined to just put a spear in the center of mass. So sure, if you're gonna run into a pikeblock, I can see how the gut is the area that is relatively speaking the easiest to cover, compared to how vital and vulnerable it is. Not that it's enough, you'll still get stabbed in the chest, armpit or neck eventually, or get your legs hacked up, but at least the gut plate is a good place to start.

As a giant fat guy myself, I feel so represented by the Ogres. FINALLY, there's characters that _look like me_ . We've still got a long way to go, but this is a step in the right direction for representation and "people of volume" in fiction.
