One of the things that baffles me is when content creators never build up their garrisons. Seriously, your armies can't be everywhere at once, especially when surrounded like this, so having those would stop most of the incursions and reduce them to just raiding, which is stupid of them because it makes them tired and slower. Not to mention you don't lose progress and investment in gold and growth taking those settlements back. Tier 1's, fine, those are cheap, but not building the garrisons at tier two means any opportunist Tom, Dick and Harry can snap it up and cause immense frustration. At the very least, this has got me in the mood for WH3 again.

I've seen Warriors of Chaos factions do that with the randomiser mod - I think they need their dark fortresses to let them do their warband recruitment, so when they get put out will-nilly into the world they struggle to raise anything more than a bunch of lords without armies. Kind of like wood elves, having random start locations hits them particularly hard, as they don't do settlements well outside of their pre-scripted economy zones!

I definitely agree on swapping the max of 3 units to a max of 5 units... but I'd also suggest putting in a possible "Oh shit I'm losing" option and allow the RoR of the same/similar type. Just to possibly give that extra push in case everything starts to go belly-up.

The one time I used the random start location mod, I was playing Grom and they put me in Tor Yvresse and the game glitched and wouldn't let me build it up. It was an active nightmare too, since they put Eltharion in the mountains near where Greasus starts and he was doing well the entire game. I hated it. Random starting location has always been a nightmare. Anyone who can deal with it automatically has my respect.

Scenario idea: Start a game where each individual race has a military alliance with itself and at the same time a war with every other race which also have alliances with each other. I recommend it, it's very funny -AI bigger empires are created faster. So it's like Total war from the first turn, but you still have allies.

for the next challenge you should also make the rule that one of the 5 rnd units must be a tier 1 unit, otherwise you might get stuck with your starting units only for like 20+ turns if you roll really badly.and one lost fight might loose you the challenge.

One good thing in this type of run where you narrow down your choices is, well, putting a spotlight on a unit you might've underestimated before. Armored Kossars with Great Weapons are pretty neat, even if they are statistically worse than the shielded ones.
