Thats a nice looking build, sucks that it got hit. I am a body tech and specifically do only vintage vehicles. Chin up that car will be a fixable. Pull the carpets up and look for damage where the subframe mounts to the floor as moved distorted floor metal will complicate things. Subframe is probably fixable but a replacement would be cheaper they are around $2000.00 with shipping. New fenders core support and a lot of labor. Once a subframe is installed it will need to go on a rack to make sure its straight. Your 100% correct yellow is beast to match. I have fixed far worse. You will be on the road again. I would suspect the repair bill will come in around $15-18 K unless you find more hidden damage.

Agree, bet its not nearly as bad as it looks. My 67 El was way worse Ill never buy a car in primer again! Filled 2 5 gal buckets with bondo when I Stripped it had to fix the frame firewall etc had more shims than ACE hardware. BUt is more square now than it was brand new.

been there done that, the car I wanted when I was 15, I was 22 when I finally got 1. I had my 68 18 years, Yes I loved mine also. My accident was the left side, damage looks very similar. Set the right wheel back a 1/2 inch. I replaced my subframe even tho we tried to pull it on a frame rack, we got a 1/4 inch back. I had a nos right fender, a rechrome bumper, Id replaced the radiator support, and grill nos, granted was many years ago. I understand being sick its worse when its your own fault. I fixed mine, I spent a whole summer that year fixing, came back better and faster but was so bad.... Im very sorry to see and hear your situation. I wish you luck and the best... I wish I still had mine it left me several years ago, my brother has it, but its not mine anymore. The One I will always miss.

Sorry to see this I have an old Vette and am afraid to take it out too, there are so many uninsured drivers out there, that are on drugs and alcohol that just don’t care about other people. So sorry that this happened to you...sounds like at least you are OK for the most part...and hopefully you have the skill and can find the parts to rebuild it as good as before...I was in a serious accident back in January where a guy jumped lanes in front of me at an intersection and wrecked my totally mint low mileage '99 Ford Ranger to where its unfixable. I've been driving 45 years, owned 58 vehicles, and NO ACCIDENTS EVER. I KNOW it's NOT a '68 Camaro. But I can't replace it. And he lied, and his insurance blamed me. So I'm out a bunch of money on top of my loss. I also have a '69 Skylark GS in the garage right now, and I'm thankful i wasn't driving it that day... so I can Imagine how sick you must feel. Sorry to here this . . I can identify on how you feel, though. I ordered my first car ( '74 Firebird Formula ) with every option. I kept it for nine years and it still looked new when I sold it. TWO WEEKS after I sold it, the man I sold it to, let his 16 year-old daughter drive it - she ran a red light and it was T-Boned in the passenger door ( impact speed about 45 mph ) A friend of mine saw the accident scene and told me about it ( I'm glad I never saw it ) I was upset about it for weeks.

I ordered it that way, but then the dealer found out it was going to take SIX months before it came in ( or more ) and, being that it was my first car ( and being that I was 21 years old ) I decided to just get the 400 - the 455 only had 25 more HP back in those days. I had the engine rebuilt a few years later and it ended up with over 500 HP.

I just renewed my policy with Hagerty Insurance. I add an option for me to keep the vehicle if it's totaled. I think it was about $10 per year. That car may be financially totaled, but you said the car is special to you so it can be repaired.$$$ I'm the current caretaker of the 1952 Chevy that my grandfather bought new, so I can imagine how you feel.

So sorry to see this 😢 . Luckily old original subframes are out there but those nos parts are like finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn . The original owner of Dewitt radiator( Howell Mi. ) had all the tooling from GM to build you the correct copper brass radiator with numbers for your Vettes , Camaros, and Chevelle’s. Speedway bought him out . I don’t know if Tom Dewitt kept the stamping molds when they moved from Howell to Wixom . I seen these first hand many years ago doing hvac in the building and later on my son worked there just after the buyout . Tom would still come in and build the copper brass radiators for someone wanting the correct radiator.

Heck production could’ve moved to Indiana or over seas for all I know. All I know is back then Tom could build you a correct date code and part number copper brass radiator for your Vette , Camaro ,or Chevelle . My son would help Tom out as he still owned the building and was working on prototype radiators and inter coolers for C7 Corvettes using his personal car . I sure hope someone ended up with the GM stamping dies and is producing correct replacement radiators. This all happened in 2016/17 ish .

It’s totally fixable. Do not lose hope. You can most likely take the whole front frame clip off and replace it and be fine. Rarely are the mounts tweaked . Beyond repair. Sucks. But hold hagerty to it. Let them know you have a channel of their customers watching.

Separate the Subframe from the car and THEN assess the damage. Until that's done and the Body put on a Frame Rack, you're only guessing at how bad it is. The removal of the Subframe will relieve stress on the Body.

Ive never left mine without good classic insurance even when it was in pieces for yrs. You just never know. WIth a regular non classic policy they pay beans if its stolen or totaled. Paid 350/yr for 40k coverage fwiw with Hagerty. National Corvette Museum (ask for Adam) is right on par, used him for yrs also. Better service I think

Far from totaled. Thats a fender bender, literally. Did the same thing to my Nova years ago, drove home, got a fender, bumper, few odds and ends and had it all back together the next day. Dont claim it under insurance then you got a mark on the title or salvage vehicle which devalues the car an insane amount..... way more than the amount it cost to fix,

Depends on your state, but you may need to lawyer up and sue the business for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate company truck because if this Dbag had no license he hecka don't have any insurance which could be another suit. Also unsure on Hagerty too, as after I just dropped $480 for my Camaro, my new boss said to find different Classic coverage from all the issues he had with them. Be sure to get your end squared up and possibly any video in the area of incident, or witness? I'm saying you may need to pursue all recovery from his end including proof of liability. Sure sucks when the victim has to do all the work for compensation - best to you and get medically checked out too! Really bad news, was hoping to find out how well the TStorm performs on the BBC

That's a damn shame that is my favorite color I had 2 guys I grew up with that both of them had 1st Gen camaros that color and both were 6 cylinder cars one of the guys had the car in his garage and the car was all ready for paint and hurricane Katrina hit louisiana in 2005 and my home town was under water for over a week so the car wasn't only under water but it was salt water both his 67 and 68 camaros are completely rusted beyond repair very sad deal and both cars were bought brand new by 2 different family members the other car was a 327 3 speed column shift car with bucket seats very odd combination and the color was maroon with red interior I thought that was odd also.
