I've seen owners of these big trucks talk like they are invincible. They are very tough, but they are also very heavy, which means a lot of extra energy in a crash. Regardless, I hope they made it out alive.

If it wasn't fatal they'll be feeling it for a long time. I had a semi pull out in front me and I rammed into the corner of their rig. Felt like hitting a wall. My neck has been messed up since, and that happened over 10 years ago.

Airbags wouldn't have deployed if it was unoccupied with the key turned off. Most likely just a driver and no passengers. I would say no one died because they normally don't put fatality vehicles on the yard and in some states they are required to go DIRECTLY into a crusher or shredder.
