Great upload and reconstruction but how do you know off the cuff which one to rotate or maybe both? Is there some king of formula? like with dice which both sides add to seven. 👍😊👍

Great question, I originally just remembered which 2 numbers were on each block, Then while filming the presentation a few days later it dawned on me that the red sticks followed in sequence, so if a No.1 was on the back (facing me) then a 2 was on the bottom, If a No.2 was on the back then a 3 would be on the bottom. However, the black sticks share either odd or even values.If a black stick had a No.1 facing me (on the back) then it has a 3 on the bottom, If a No.2 is on the back then the bottom number would be 4 etc... Hope that makes sense. It made it easier for me to remember. Thanks for asking, I'll pin this comment to the top in case it helps anyone else.

I just wanted to acknowledge the incredible work you do in deconstructing magic tricks and helping others think like magicians. Your patience and attention to detail are truly remarkable, and your ability to inspire others to create their own routines is truly a gift. I appreciate the art and skill involved in creating and performing magic. Your dedication to sharing your knowledge and expertise is helping to keep the magic alive and inspire future generations of magicians. Thank you for all that you do, and keep up the amazing work!

I've actually evolved this effect to the next level. I created a duplicate set of ungimmicked blocks that I hand out for examination. And I then place them in a magicians change bag to ostensibly jumble them up. And I then switch them for the gimmicked blocks which I take out one at at time, making sure to remove them in the correct orientation so the numbers don't flash.

When you showed that Tenyo set, I realized that I bought one of those from an auction years ago. I'm going to go and dig around for it in one of my boxes from years ago.

This is one of the best magic presentation/tutorials you have ever done.. Because you taught me, not how to do a magic trick, but, to think magically. How magic think tricks are contributed. Or, in this case deconstructed. I was actually on the right track right off the bat. Once you determined that the numbers could not be manipulated mechanically, then I knew they had to be manipulated "sleight-anically" and I was just thinking: Isn't there an effect using dice that uses this manipulation to show this side with the desired number? You know the one I'm talking about? Let the real question I want to ask you is... Can I borrow your 3D printer? Just kidding. Would you please consider gifting your handmade "Matchsticks" in a giveaway contest?

This is brilliant. I love most of the Tenyo tricks. They are so clever and this is no exception. I might make a wooden set myself and play around with them. Will you put out a pdf with a template of where the numbers go. You're just so much smarter than me. When you said at one point that you understood how the trick worked I was still completely in the dark. Well done. This now makes me want to invest in a 3d printer.

Thank you. The 3D printer I'm still learning to use, but does come in handy to make prototypes. I guess the way this trick works reminded me of my days of working with computer servers and hard drive storage, look up RAID 5 and it'll make sense!!! LoL.

Here’s an idea: This trick could very well be changed to a card effect, by using double face cards inside envelopes. The envelopes would have to be sleeves with no flap.

One other problem with doing this trick in person is if the spectator gets wise and just grabs the stick to see if there are more numbers on it than 1.

Hi Mark. This is an interesting little effect. I have already fashioned my own set made of wood. Whilst i can always get all the number pairs to match there does not seem to be a way of guaranteeing that the pairs do not contain more than one pair of a particular number. Since we are showing two separate sets of 1-4 at the start this will obviously not make sense to the spectator. Am i doing something wrong in the handling? My two sets are as follows. Set one 1/3 2/4 3/1 4/2 Set two 1/2 2/3 3/4 4/1 It is a shame that we can not always make a single pair of every number 1-4 or can we? .
@AndyMossMetta
@AndyMossMetta Жыл бұрын
O.k Mark i think i have worked it out for myself. As per your own presentation we can start the routine by matching just the one pair before starting again to build upon this through the match of the two pairs. So far so good. But if we then choose to go yet further to match three pairs we can only gesture by inference that the remaining pair MUST be the remaining number n. We cannot actually show it. On reflection this should be no problem as this missing number will very likely have already been paired up and importantly been seen to be a pair somewhere in the lead up to the three pair-off stage of the routine. Therefore there will be no heat on the last two remaining. All in all a lovely little effect.

Andy you can always show 4matches no matter what ....if you look at your set of numbers set one - 1/3 will match with the other set as each contains a 1 or a 3 ....2/4 will match each of the others because each has a 2 or 4 and the other 2 are the same with the numbers reversed

The main problem I see with this trick is that it is much more complicated than the other Tenyo tricks I have had. It would be very hard for me to remember which blocks and which way to turn them with my memory. Seems to be fading as I age. And I am only 63.

I assume that the mixing of blocks is not important to the trick and only done to confuse the participant and appear to make it totally fare.
