One of your best videos yet, Shaggi! Your succinct, meaningful descriptions of the games combined with the gorgeous B-roll shots made this an enjoyable watch and listen. Also, watching this makes me feel that Vlaada Chvatil must be the most board game diverse designer ever. Haha Games on your list that I've played (along with my top 100 ranks): Love Letter, Sky Team (64), Marvel Champions (6), Darwin's Journey (55), Dice Throne, Codenames (81), Weather Machine (12), Zhanguo: The First Empire (48), Dominion, Anachrony (30), Viticulture (58), Ark Nova (23), Obsession (17), Lost Ruins of Arnak (26), Castles of Burgundy (93), Voidfall (3), and Robinson Crusoe. I'm interested in checking out Shakespeare, Oranienberger Canal, Star Wars: Outer Rim, and La Granja based off your video and list. Thanks for putting this together and posting the video!

I checked out your Top 100. Thanks for sending me the list. A bunch of great games on there I still need to play -- I've really been behind this year for various reasons but I'm planning on getting a bunch played over the holidays. In particular Nucleum, Inventors of ST, Barcelona, Snakore, and Ezra and Nehemiah are high on my to-do list. I need to look into Sabika and Amritsar. Funny what you say about Vlaada Chvatil. I'm his biggest fan clearly (I think 6 of his designs on my list with 4 in the top 13!). But every one of his games is totally different than the others. Incredible range and consistency. It's a crying shame he hasn't come out with anything new since Codenames. Thanks so much, Laurence!
@laurencesingh3948Ай бұрын
@@TotallyTabled Thanks for checking out my list! The ones that I feel like I can most confidently recommend based on your tastes would be: Nucleum, Sabika, and Inventors of the South Tigris. I am definitely interested to hear what you think about all the ones you have planned to get tabled over the holiday break, though. I've only played Codenames by him! But it's probably my favourite party game of all-time. Through the Ages definitely interests me but I've heard that the setup is brutal and really involved. I think the way you feel about Vlaada Chvatil is how I feel about David Turczi and Shem Phillips/SJ Macdonald. I feel like most of my top 30 is filled with games where they were involved in the design. They are certainly not as diverse, though, as they mainly operate in the heavy euro wheelhouse (which works just fine for me!).

Thanks for this recap of your favorites ! Was a bit surprised by the low ranking of Spirit island though - of course i fully respect your view, but would be keen to know what were the rationals for this decision 😊. Thanks again for the great work Shaggi ! Very impresive
@TotallyTabledАй бұрын
The difference between the 60s and 30s is not really that much. Spirit Island sits in a weird place for me. I tend to play co-ops with lighter gamers or solo. I've struggled with solo Spirit Island because I don't like playing with two spirits, and with one spirit the game feels a bit wanting to me. I prefer two players, but the heavier gamers I play with don't really like co-ops. Also, I like my complex co-ops to have more story -- like Robinson Crusoe, Frostpunk, This War of Mine, etc. I need to get comfortable playing two spirits, but I haven't be able to get it back to the table. So Spirit Island might go up on my list with more experience. Thanks for watching!
@laurentlebarq2078Ай бұрын
@TotallyTabled Got you ! This is fully understandable - i have put Robinson Crusoe on my wish list since i saw your playthrough even though i am a bit afraid of the difficulty and high lost rate ! Hi! That's such a great list! I've been following your channel for a while now and really enjoy the playthroughs. They've conviced me to get Robinson Crusoe and Sleeping Gods. I've been meaning to ask: I've noticed you never mentioned some ofvthe popular games like Terraforming Mars, Dune, Wingspan - games that are often featured in boargames collections - and I was wondering why?
@TotallyTabled28 күн бұрын
Terraforming Mars was never a favorite of mine -- ugly, weird pacing, too long (especially with the drafting which is a must), and I don't go ga-ga over engine building. I think TM is a good game but I'd rather play Ark Nova 9/10 times. Wingspan is also good, but again, engine building is good but not great for me. I like both of those games just fine. Dune Imperium I talk about. Do you mean the original Dune? The 6 player asymmetrical one? I've never played that one -- I tend to other epic games like TI4 and Eclipse, but I rarely have an occasion to play epic games so I don't talk about those much either. All the games I talk about I have had a lot of experience with. Thanks for watching!

Great list! Very well put together. Thanks! Would you say it was a solo gamer list? Surprised to see some popular games not on the list.
@TotallyTabledАй бұрын
I am a solo gamer as well as a multiplayer gamer, a bit more solo these days (partly due to the channel) but certainly more multiplayer in the past. So, yes, that definitely informs the list. For example, my top 10 has 5 games I regularly play solo, and 8 that can be played solo, so that clearly has some influence. But I've also played my entire top 10 multiplayer at least once. So it's a combo list. That said, there are a bunch of popular games that I don't like nearly as much as the majority of gamers. And a bunch of game that I haven't played enough to make the list. (I have a high threshold of experience needed with a game before I feel comfortable judging it and adding it to a list like this. That's possible why more of the epic games like TI4 are missing). There's 1000s of games that deserve plays and I've "only" played around 1000 different ones, so my games simply fall through the cracks. Thanks for watching!

Calling Tash Kalar the greatest abstract of all time is a huge stretch, but it is your list and I can’t deny it is a good game. If one thing is for certain, you’re a HUGE Lacerda fan! I’m sad to see not one Chip Theory Game on your list. ☹️ I definitely would’ve put Hoplomachus, Too Many Bones, and Burncycle on my list. Nemo’s War, Carnival Zombie, and War Chest. Abstract would be Glyph Chess, Hive, and Onitama. I’d replace Ghost Stories with Last Bastion. Aeon’s End would be my favorite deck builder. The Reckoners would be my favorite dice game. Favorite Pandemic would be Fall of Rome, with Reign of Cthulhu second.

Ha, yeah, I was having a bit of fun with Tash Kalar (although BGG does categorize it as an abstract). Take away all the pretty pictures and it is still the most fun abstract-ish game I've played (but I'm not really big on pure abstracts). I have many holes in my gaming resume and Chip Theory is a big one. I'm just a dad who plays games, not a reviewer, so I don't get to play as much as I would like. Burncycle is on the to-do list. I might wait for Elder Scrolls before playing Too Many Bones again. I do love Hive and Onitama (I play with my youngest son a bunch). Thanks so much, Victor!

@@TotallyTabled now that I am done watching it... what about my favorite game of all time Sentinels of the Multiverse... didn't make your list, just wondering why.. you like cards games with puzzles, and interesting decisions, and quick to setup and play games yet this one didn't make your list...
@TotallyTabledАй бұрын
@@idjester That's a game that has flown under my radar to be honest. I played the original a long time ago, very early on, and it was a bit complex for me at that time. I didn't have a lot of experience. And I never managed to get back to it. BUT, I was given a review copy of the new definitive version and I plan to make a video about it soon. So it should hit the table again and who knows, maybe it will make next year's list. Or my Top 100 Solo games list, which I hope to release in the first half of next year. I'm excited to try it again, especially now that you've talked it up! Thanks!

@@TotallyTabled Looking forward to the solo list!
@idjesterАй бұрын
@@TotallyTabled yes get it to the table right now... the sooner the better.. it plays great solo running 3 or 4 characters, there is some interaction between heroes with drawing cards, using powers and such, and constantly going through your deck... I like DE (definitive Edition) but to be honest I enjoy the easy nature of regular SOTM maybe even better... they are the same core game but they do play very differently... With DE you are gaining cards, drawing cards, and using powers plenty throughout the round, which make for some wild turns, but it be a slog to do it SOLO... keep that in mind, which original SOTM is Play a card, Use a Power, Draw a Card... very simple and elegant... so long story short.. I would try them both because you might love them both or you might only like 1 of them.. Just a heads up for you.. I am sure there are plenty of vidoes outlining the difference between them that you can watch... Keep up the great work.. and I CAN'T wait to see my favorite game of all time on your channel and see you playing it... it will be epic..

if you like Ghost Stories, try Space Hulk: Death Angel, it's brilliant for solo and 2 players. Such a tense game
@TotallyTabledАй бұрын
Yeah, Death Angel has been brought up quite a bit lately and I think it is one I want to go back to. I played once or twice a long time ago but I think it would be fun to revisit it. Thanks for watching!

Brilliant list though I only have a few of the ones you mentioned lol...and i have re 120 board games. Yet most of mine are crime solving or ones i can play with my 9yo granddaughter, so are more co-op and family based.

I play a bunch of great family games with my kids -- most don't make my Top 100 but they are still great. My 10 year old really likes Pursuit of Happiness, Catacombs of Karak, Castle Panic, and Forbidden Island. Lately we've been having a great time with MicroMacro. Thanks for watching!

@@TotallyTabled One game i personally cannot wait to play with my Mrs and granddaughter is Once Upon A Time....with my sick sense of humour and imagination, everyone is going to be in stitches laughing.....cannot wait. And i have Micro Macro, another game i feel will be absolutely full of fun and suspense etc. Of the others you mentioned above, i dont have. I need to get o'seas first and settle (min 6-12 months) and then play and go thru each one of them. I already have several years worth of games to get through LOL

Game recommendation for you-- Comancheria by GMT Games... its a solo only game about a topic you don't often see.. I am trying to learn the game and I playthrough by you would be the best way of doing that... lets get going on this buddie... thanks...

Favorite player counts for Kanban and On Mars?
@TotallyTabled28 күн бұрын
Kanban at 4 players is sublime but tight. On Mars at 2 is my favorite (but I haven't tried it at 3, which I imagine is also great). Thanks!

Frostpunk has dropped quite a bit; just got too same-y after several plays? I know you really loved that game (well and it still is rated fairly high, but I expected higher)
@TotallyTabledАй бұрын
I wouldn't read too much into it being 18. Anything in the top 100, but especially the top 25 is the best of the best for me. It is just newer than most of those games ahead of it, and I place a lot of stock in games that stand the test of time. Also it is tough to get to the table, I only play it solo, and I have to be in a certain mood. But Frostpunk is incredible and it hasn't gotten stale or samey for me at all. Definitely Top 10 solo game. Thanks for watching!
