@Prettywhite4awhiteguy5 жыл бұрын
@@tiagoboia1161 he wasn't lucky grab, the 49ers and Bill Walsh did a lot of studying on him, ESPN just had a program about how that selection came to be. NFL teams started to become more focused on their scouting of drafts after that

James Wiedmaier remember players are how good they are by there training for example if Aaron Rodgers went somewhere else farve would not of trained him giving him the chance to be as good as Nathan peterman if Nathan peterman got trained by farve he has a chance to be as good as Aaron Rodgers
@gingycakes76085 жыл бұрын
Vince Vavrinak that’s not true at all. Farve openly despised Rodgers and refused to help him at all as he was jealous of his successor. Aaron is a generational talent and farve did nothing for him
@djames60435 жыл бұрын
@@vincevavrinak6119 Rodgers wasn’t trained by Farve though in fact Farve barely talked to Rodgers while he was his backup. Rodgers was amazing even before he entered the NFL I remember watching the draft and I knew he was going to be great because outside of the draft building there was this hoop that was like 50 ft in the air and every year they would have a quarterback try to throw the ball through it they had Alex Smith go first and he missed it by a mile and then Rogers went up and he nailed it he made it look easy and that's when I knew he was going to be an amazing QB.

As an Eagles fan, I was sure I was going to see the Mamula-Sapp-Brooks debacle from the 1995 draft. The Birds traded with TB to get a higher pick; they went with Mike Mamula while TB ended up with future Super Bowl champions Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks, anchoring one of the most dominant defenses to ever play the game, and who knocked us out of the NFCCG on their way to the title, and who would later end up in the Hall of Fame.

The Bills desperately needing a QB, then trading away the #10 pick to the Chiefs in the 2017 draft for future picks while the Chiefs used the pick to grab Patrick Mahomes (and shortly after the Texans grabbed Deshaun Watson) is the pick the Bills they most want back. They were all in thinking the 2018 draft had the better QB's, literally handed the Chiefs Mahomes and outright passed on Watson, then stocked up picks to trade down & grab Josh Allen of all people... SERIOUSLY!!?? You pass on 2 of the most talented on-field QB's in generations so that you can grab a project QB that wasn't even the best QB in the Mountain West, put up ho-hum stats, didn't play well in big games, etc. all because he has the "look," with big hands and size? Who cares how strong his arm is? What did he do in games? How did he play against good competition? How's his awareness? Ability to read a defense? Nah, who needs Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson when you have Josh Allen!? Bills genius at work.

Dunno man. I think you missed big on some of these... I think The Colts would have rather had Jeff George over Art Schlichter (picked 4th in the first round of '82). In his first year Schlichter lost the starting job to the QB picked in the fourth round in that same draft (Mike Pagel), and his gambling addiction (he had blown through a six-figure signing bonus before midseason with bad bets) pretty much ended his career thereafter. Compared to Schlichter, George looks like an All-Pro. The Forty-Niners at least got some good use out of the TE you all chose for their worst draft pick. The quarterback of the future that the Niners picked with the third overall pick in the '67 draft served more use as a punter for the team. His name was Steve Spurrier, and while he had a lot more success as a coach, he was the biggest waste of a first round pick in Niners history. At least he admits that he was unmotivated as a player, so some points for honesty there.

The Bears biggest draft bust is Mitch Trubisky because they passed up on Mahomes and Watson. They were looking for a quarterback, and traded up to get one, and they could have had a stud quarterback in Watson and a potential GOAT in Mahomes but chose Mitch instead. That pick will haunt this franchise for years and maybe even decades to come.

Your choice for the Bears is wrong. Curtis Enis taken 5th overall in 1998 would have worked but the worst choice ever for them was David Terrell taken 8th overall in 2001. He was the very first WR taken that year in a draft which saw fellow WR Koren Robinson, Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson, Chris Chambers, Steve Smith and Alex Bannister who all played in at least one Pro Bowl. There were so many star players taken in this draft and they chose a WR that wasn’t limited by injuries. They chose one that just couldn’t play in the NFL.

You could say the same thing about Jim Plunkett that you could say about Jamarcus Russell -- the Patriots BADLY needed a QB at the time. Plunkett had indeed just won the Heisman and some of the head coaches in what's now the Pac-12 that he played against called him the best pro QB prospect they'd ever seen. However, like what David Carr and Tim Couch would experience with the teams that would draft them, the Pats had a hideously bad offensive line -- they didn't have John Hannah yet, and even once they drafted him, he couldn't block everyone by himself -- and it severely hindered Plunkett's development.

Vernon Gholston is another so many pro bowlers from that draft including Jordy Nelson, Jamaal Charles, Aqib Taleeb, Matt Forte, etc etc, where gholston never really did much. Pretty much most of their 2nd round picks were busts Stephen Hill Geno Smith.
