As a former runner in my youth, I would say she’s trusting the process you can’t win every race and you definitely don’t want to get injured in a race that is not as important and isn’t the defining race to reach the Olympics. If she’s to win and she will, if not, she won’t..

As a former Collegiate Track & Field Sprinter and Youth Coach, I would say that she's neglecting the process by not attempting to be assertive in each race. The defining race is based on strategic measures taken before the Olympics. If she wants to win, she should place herself in a better position to win!

The only way you're going to know where you're at is to race. You're not going out there just to race. She was blow out at the hundred mark. Why the hell are you going to try not to win. There's only 90 days till the Olympics. That's not much time to find yourself. Rotflmao, you people know nothing about track. You could hurt yourself easing up as well.

When Sha’carri is running her best and offering maximum effort, her knee lift is absolutely outstanding. Her knees end up level with her hips at her most efficient stride providing incredible power and spring in each stride. Very few sprinters achieve this level of knee lift at maximum effort. In both the races shown in the video, Sha’carri’s knee lift is nowhere near what her customary level is at which suggests she’s not working at her max potential or effort. My guess is that she’s performing exactly as her coaches want her to and she’s trusting the process. Why wouldn’t she trust her coaches? She’s the defending world champion with a Championship record on her resume thanks to them.

This is exactly what I was thinking about her first two races: very low knee lift. Like you, I thought that she wasn't giving a full effort. I suppose there is a possibility that she is hurt but I hope not!!

We cannot all love the same athletes but we can all love athletics❤ When a runner l love shows up I fall in love with them all over again win, lose, or draw. Let runners win in your heart. Then when they do their best on any given day you can accept it. The best is yet to come. I want to see everyone in Paris leaning. If it takes a week to sort out the winners in photo finishes my dreams will have come true. Fair competition is a win for us all. I wish the runners you love the best. May they have good health and I hope the gods of Olympus aid them so they run their personal records in Paris. And quiet is kept. The only thing I love more than the runners I worship are the faithful fans who ride and die with the athletes they love.

She should keep it up. it's too early to tell how her season is gonna end, it could go 2022 or 2023, as an American I hope is the latter. However, there are other young US sprinters that can also make the podium, I think our female sprinting is having a resurgence now. China was a money grab (I heard she was paid six figures appearance fee), she and her coach know she's not ready to compete like other medal hopefuls. She did say they're changing things up this season so we shouldn't expect to see a repeat of last season and where she was at.

It's still a slow season opener for somebody who runs 21. In order to get close to that, you should at least be 22 low, Like where Gabby is at. To take off 2 seconds in 3 months would be pretty wild. I'm guessing her 100 m times aren't that great either. But my best guess is that. They're focusing more on strength because they don't look very explosive out the blocks. But that's a mistake because she should have been working on her speed since indoor.

The top athletes in the world are all focused on hitting their "peaks" just in time for the Olympics. As you stated the Olympics are approx 3 months away (12 weeks). The absolute top athletes can hit and hold their peak level of performance for about 6 weeks. Yes, there might be some variation from that but about 6 weeks is the accepted time that most athletes can maintain their peak performance. This will also vary depending on the event being discussed. eg Peak time frame for sprinters may vary from peak time frame for a 5000/10,000 runner. (Due to the physical draining of bodily resources. It takes more out of you to race a top 5,000m and longer to recover, than a top 100m) So, only a moron would be running their PB's 3 months (12 weeks) before their aimed peak. Come the Olympics, they would fail miserably! What they are most concerned about, are injuries and infections. (Colds/Flus) just when they need to be peaking. At this time, many runners will still be racing under/over their preferred main distance. If not in organised races at Track Meets then in private training sessions. Again, all planned on getting them to peak performance levels just prior to the Olympics. So, top 1500m runners might still race a 3000m, having cut down from 5000m, to test their stamina. But also incorporate 600m and 800m (and 300m in training) to begin to hone their speed. Just before the Games, they might "put it all together" and race a 1500m or Mile, just to check how they are feeling. At the Olympics they might be faced with Heats, quarters, semis then the final. All without pacemakers, so they must be prepared for slow starts with ultra fast finishes, all within a time-span of a week. Exciting stuff, eh? Cheers.

Yes, each athelte tapers differently. Some get faster slowly other time, others stay slower then get faster quite later in traning cycle. Dina Asher smith for example ran 22.80 then 6 days later ran 22.29. With shacarri her form is completely off though, 0 knee lift which is her supposed to be her strength.

To qualify for the Olympics you need a time of 22.57. Since Mboma's "T" has been decreased to normal women she probably won't be able to run at that time. She's clocking 12s 100m and 24s 200m to date.

@kronickintrovert did you see all of her 22.07 and 21.61w 200m races last year? She ran awsome turns that slingshot her into the straightway. Then she actually shut down on purpose the last 30 meters coasting in. If she runs those kind of curves and finishes the race while in 10.6 100m form, she can run a legal 21.5.
