A nice little DIY job. Nothing too complicated and no special tools needed etc. Be sure to get links that are supplied with the bolts (as covered in detail in the video) as they can be expensive on their own and should be replaced with the links. Have fun!

Nice video except for the fact that you didn't tighten the bolts by putting the suspension under load.

What's happen if you do not tight the bolts unde load ?

Excellent clearly explained videos thank you. Would be great to see some on C64F A6 Avant, in particular I need to remove upper window trim to try and solve a rattle in there, have previously removed lower trim to replace wiper motor.

Can you just turn the wheel and do this with the car on the ground? Or does it have to be jacked up? I.e. is there any tension on the anti roll bar when the car is level on the ground?
@TotalTechnik
@TotalTechnik 3 жыл бұрын
No, it has to be jacked up unfortunately. Yes, there is pressure on the bar with the weight of the car on the ground. Likewise, when you only jack up one side it has pressure on the bar on the opposite side which can make alignment a big problem. The best option is to jack up both sides if you have two jacks, or better still prop it using axle stands one on each side. This way there is zero pressure on the bar and you can work much, much easier. Hope that helps :-) --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome! Hey there! We've not covered the sizing too in-depth as it can vary depending on the brand of the links being refitted. @TotalTechnik
@TotalTechnik 3 жыл бұрын
It is likely that you have done nothing wrong. After changing any suspension components it is possible that the suspension geometry can change, and it only takes a small amount to throw the tracking off a touch. Usually when doing a large suspension job you HAVE to get the tracking aligned after the job is done (it's part of the process). However, for smaller items like these links often there is little to no change and so only needed if, as in your case, you get a slight misalignment. Basically your suspension will be sitting a tiny bit differently to before, thanks to the brand new bushes. Where it is sitting right now is likely to be more correct than where it was sitting on the worn bushes (!!) but a wheel alignment will be needed to get the tracking back to where you need it to be. But do be sure to double-check your work before taking that step just in case something is not quite mounted correctly. Hope that helps! :-) --- To help support us (for both you and others reading this) there are a few things you can do: 1) Donations both needed and welcome!
