"I’m an active 52 yo male, former Military SF, current Firefighter, avid martial artist and want to take my 3rd degree Black Belt test winter of 2023.
I’ve seen your videos of tight knee verses loose knee and one about shouldn’t have pain in back with flexion or in front with extension …
I have both …
Thanks in advance for any help, I’m Frustrated !!!
I realize we all heal differently, we all had varied degrees of badness requiring surgery but I’m looking for a General idea here…..
I had a left total knee, not sure the hardware 🤦♂️, leg wouldn’t straighten or go past 120 pre surgery and had a 15-20 degree lateral bow (knock knees) ….
They had to remove some old hardware, do a lateral release, and add an extra plate to get it to straighten….
I’ve been completely straight 0 degree extension, and at the 3 week mark hit 114 degree flexion
Now at week 7 I can’t seem to flex past 110…. More pain now than before …….
Weird new pains I did t expect …
Pain across the knee cap and at patella tendon, pain on left lateral region kinda where the meniscus would have been… major pain behind knee, left side kinda where the hamstring tendon attaches and right behind knee, and super sore hamstring….. the pain on the back of the knee seems to be what’s stopping my flexion now, almost like something’s stuck …. 🤷🏻♂️
Anyone or anyone you know experiencing these types of pain, I’m consistent in the exercise and trying to push past the pain but PT was saying only go to discomfort not pain…. Now she’s super agressive, warms the knee up with hot wrap, manipulates the knee cap a little, then says here we go and bends me to pain then beyond, I have a high tolerance but I’m talking nauseating pain.
Is that the normal protocols ?
If you’ve felt these pains ? Or had patients that do, What were they ? What did you do ?
Thanks"
