I was setting HVAC in Phillips, Wisc. today at a grocery store. I rolled up at the site after 1 1/4hrs. on the road. The unit was 4 ft. off the side, but overhead power lines were right on the other side of the lane. I squeezed my outriggers to a 1/2" from the glass wall, swung the boom up & scoped out enough stick to center on the unit, keeping the boom low. I got the old unit off, set it down, picked the new unit and set it. The truck is under the wires, but the boom is short and low barely outside of 10 feet. As I was swinging back to pick up the old unit to put it on their trailer, I saw a man in a hard hat standing next to me. Utility Company rep. I guess 3 people called them, so he came out check me out. I was definitely close, but I'm sure I was 11 -12 feet from the conductors. (if the minimums aren't good enough, they shouldn't be the minimums) He agreed I was within limits but said, "If you get any closer, I'm shutting you down. If you don't shut down, I'm calling the police." He took some pictures, maybe some video, then took over as safety observer, and we loaded up the old unit & I was done. I understand the danger, I thanked him for his help, BIG hand shake. WHEW! On to the next job two hours away, & attempt to set set up on an ice covered slope to set trusses. I love this work, NO STRESS!

I was watching the start of this video and thought "what a cute rear view mirror dangle, it looks just like a crane ball!" Then I noticed the rear view mirror looked just like a top sheave. Then I finally realized what I was looking at.

Got to love HVAC work, sure beats setting trusses! Easier on the crane, o ne or two lifts instead of dozens. The tip of boom HD camera system I have on my National makes it even easier. 22 years of doing this work, and I'll never work without a camera again.

Hey Jimmy, another neat perspective from the driver's/operators seat. I was noticing that at this current moment you're sitting just 31 subscribers short of your 1000th...then I read another comment from further down saying that your buddy was just 10 shy of his. Maybe another day or two for you. I hope it's just bragging rights on the line or maybe a steak dinner and not having to wear a diaper around town for the day...hahaha!

eSPeeScotty, I am closing in on the 1000 mark. However, G4 Outdoors hit 1000 today. It was pretty neat though. I have "To The Top Crane" registered to my personal email, and had subscribed to his channel a long time ago. Just recently, I made an email account for my channel so subscribers could contact me. I used that new account to be his 1000th subscriber. So, in essence, the channel "To The Top Crane" became his 1000th sub and solidified the win for him. There wasn't anything at stake. Just a friendly competition. I am happy he made it. He has had his channel since the latter part of 2016. He was monetized until the new rules in February. As always, Thanks for watching!

@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
Bleu Wolf, it's a 50 ton boom truck. Line pull is only 10,000 lbs. As far as boom trucks are concerned,it is pretty big. In comparison to the Tadano that I usually operate, it isn't very big. Thanks for watching.
@markmortensen43416 жыл бұрын
A couple things about this one. That camera want all that bad with distortion so at least I didn't mind it. I had a friend watching this video with me (hopefully he subscribed) and he was asking about the 90 ft. radius you were talking about. I thought I explained it pretty well but by the look on his face maybe not. The next time, could you talk about the radius and why it's important to your boom and weight? It's been a long time for me running it so I'm sure I left something out. Thanks a bunch for the video and I'm sure I'll chat with (or to you) ya later😜👍‼️

@ToTheTopCrane6 жыл бұрын
Wayne Tharp, the nitrous thing came about because I wanted to reduce the amount of music that I was using for those with vision impairment. So far, the nitrous thing seems to be a hit. Thank you for watching my content. You all, meaning my subscribers, are what drives me to make the best content that I am capable of with my limited computer knowledge. Thank you for watching! 🙂. Oh, I don't know the size of the units.

To The Top Crane The videos just keep getting better in my opinion! My better half has sold surplus heating and air for 25 years. I could ask her and she would know! I am the same way on limited tech knowledge. She sold 3 50 ton units going to Florida/Georgia line area the first of the week to cool buildings housing the Bit Coin computer stuff. I guess it really puts off the heat and they need huge units to constantly keep everything from overheating. Way beyond my brain comprehension!😂

We have a manitex 50128SHL and it’s a stout crane

I’m a small crane service in FL. Been in business since 1964. We currently have 2 machines (Altec’s) and looking at buying a 2016 TC500 50155shl on a peterbuilt with a mx13. Just wondering what your overall thoughts are on the manitex machine and was wondering what engine you have in your truck there. Both of my Altec machines are pre-emission and I’ve never dealt with these new engines that have all of the DEF and EGR stuff on them. Just wondering how it’s working out because cranes do a lot of idling and from what I understand these newer engines do not like to idle.

diggermitch1, it was secured on this one. It has a strap connected from the bumper to the hook. Just not pulled very tight. On the big crane, the hook/block is so out of line with the tieback point that it wouldn't make a difference if it was tied back. Thanks for watching! 🙂
