So many good players on guitar. But Steve is a completely musician in different kind of music style. You name it, fusion jazz,funk,soul and rock. 👌

When I first listened to a solo album of Steve, I thought: wow, he found a fantastic singer! Then a couple of years later I realized that it was the man himself. What a legend.

@@joeygirl314 they were very good friends, and admired each other a lot. I haven't double checked, but I heard once a story about EVH asking Luke to produce one of his albums, and while they were at it, EVH realized that he'd need another producer, because Luke was just not objective enough. He just loved everything EVH did 😂

Shazammed “Running with the Night” yesterday, simply to know who was playing the guitar towards the end. Fascinating guitar work by Steve Lukather. He’s way underrated, as opposed to widely overrated guitarists like Brian May, Neal Schone or Carlos Santana. What an unjust world.

It's funny how Lukather portrays himself as "THE ROCKER" in Toto, but all the ballads released in Toto are sung by Lukather . Give me the real rockers "Hold the Line" and "White sister" over the ballads any day sung by Kimball. Toto was kept off the arena rock club because of, yep, the ballads. Sung by Lukather.

Ever heard about kingdom of desire 😂
@waltersimmons946 Жыл бұрын
@Antonio Verducci Yep, I bought the cassette in early 1992 . The first album without Byron or a high tenor period. I know where you're going but I'll go this way. Though it was the last album with Jeff Porcaro. There were no major hits off that album that made to mainstream radio and got airplay, especially here in America. "Pamela" sung by Joe Williams who was fired after the 1987-88 tour of the SEVENTH ONE actually was the last single played on radio . His other tune "Stop Loving you" did well overseas. Lukather like I mentioned is more known for the ballads, those hits. Bobby Kimball should've done ballads, but Paich and the guys didn't learn nothing from Steve Porcaro who wrote "A secret love" the last song on 1979s HYDRA , the softest song Kimball ever sang on his whole time in TOTO. They could've done better with Kimball but Lukather got the syrupy, cuddle stuff.
@pascalzeller505 Жыл бұрын
@@waltersimmons946it's not important, who is singing on the songs, Paich also did lead vocals..any song is perfect as it is. Lukather always wanted to have a balance in the band, so he gave his warm voice often to ballads & let the higher tunes for kimball & williams.. By the way, Kimball sung "right part of me"
@waltersimmons946 Жыл бұрын
@Pascal Zeller It is important that the songs 🎵 go with the voice that has the right tone, key, and pitch. TOTO mastered that very well with the multi vocalists in the band. But still, "A SECRET LOVE " is the slowest, softest song Kimball ever sang in TOTO. Even Steve Porcaro, who had the idea for the song, said recently they had no idea who in the band could sing that song once it was written (IT WAS WRITTEN BY STEVE P, DAVID PAICH AND KIMBALL. Steve Porcaro said, "Kimball gave it shot, and it blew him away because up till then , they never heard Bobby on a soft tune, and the band loved it. Also, Pascal, unlike "RIGHT PART OF ME," "A SECRET LOVE," has no drums, bass, or lead guitar. Only piano and synthesizers and "A SECRET LOVE " was never released, and I have the CD TOTO XX 1977 -1997 compiled with songs 🎵 that DIDN'T make the final cut on Totos albums over the years, "RIGHT PART OF ME" was a song that didn't make the cut . Why ? I don't know. Kimball was disappointed about that, and the band voted not to put "HEY LITTLE GIRL" on the albums, too, another disappointment for Kimball
@wesleyrabb6182 Жыл бұрын
I think it shows their talent and versatility as a band. From the ballads to the instrumentals, you hear something different. No two songs are the same. Some of the more popular rock bands have the same sound and it doesn't change. You hear the first song on a album and you pretty much hear the whole record.
