The problem with this particular Jan window, clubs can see the desperate situation Tottenham is in and perhaps are inflating prices . It probably doesn't sit well probably with a prudent CEO like Levi . If that wasn't handball, then the rules should be changed. For example if the ball ends up (after the handball) falling to a player from the same team as the player who handed the ball, then play should be stopped to avoid teams taking advantage of the incident. Otherwise will happen again, which is not good.

Biss is ok but not a top draw DM, I'd play Gray there he will be top draw mid soon, may as well let him do it now as no one is better than him at spurs in the role. To be fair Bentancur is capable of being very good in the role too. My spurs mids would be Gray, Deki and Betancur, up front Son (in his last year?) Solanke, Johnson (till he gets better or is replaced, needs to keep improving and be more aggressive like Diaz at Liverpool) - the back line is simply awful - spurs till short about 6 top quality starting 11 - i have no idea why fans think spurs should be anywhere near the top 10 with the current paper thin bang average squad, no depth at all. Porro is good but needs quality next to him or his game drops, radu is about a year away from being EPL quality, Udogie way worse than his first season; Romero, VDV, Richy always injured - get rid of the latter and get very good cover for the other two - then spurs might just be a top 6 club - long long way to go!

I would say it's fair to assume Forster is leaving end of the season. I only want to see signings that improve our first 11 and Antoni could be better than Vicario. It makes more sense that club has a limited budget, why would they want a rumour going round that they have a huge budget, clubs will just try and rip us off. Levy is never going to do a chelsea and spend 500m in a window, especially in January. If you dont have realistic expectations you will always be dissapointed!

There are rules and the rules say it wasn't a handball and VAR ruled as such. Nothing to do with the ref on the pitch or in the VAR room. If you don't like the results, instigate to have the rules changed. Claiming the refs are biased or incompetent is totally unfair.

No it doesn’t, the rule says the hand / Arm must be in a natural position and that is a judgement call by the ref and VAR. His arm was actually away from his body a little bit but was it a natural position so judgement has to be used by the ref. We have seen penalties given when defenders arms are in a similar position, which is why they now put their arms behind their backs. However this decision was a 50/50 call, and thus a judgement call by the ref, but no one really knows what is handball under the current rules or which way a ref will judge it. The handball by Burn was much more clear cut, putting his arms out really wide, and should have resulted in a second yellow card, but didn’t. Joelinton hitting Bergvall on the back of the head for no reason was ignored. Some pundits have said he didn’t hit him hard enough for a red, when even lightly touching the head with a hand has resulted in a straight red in other matches. How hard do you need to punch or elbow someone off the ball for it to be a red card, is there a strength rating for this. Newcastle fans talk about the Kulu challenge, when it was obvious Gordon ran into him and Kulu actually kicked the ball, so unless we are going to ban all tackles that was probably ok. Burn constantly holding or coming through the back of Solanke and rarely penalised, was another issue. Everyone is assuming it’s just about the Newcastle goal but there were many poor refereeing decisions in that match with most going Newcastle’s way.

@johnharvey1786 I agree the Burn one was a handball. But to claim or hint strongly of bias you'll need more than just couple of non-calls especially they went both ways. Thanks though on your long detailed and to the point and not personal reply. Good one.

@ I’m just worried the rules leave too much interpretation that can lead to suspicion of bias and or incompetence by the ref. In fact I think the refs have an impossible task regarding handball. The rules around handball need far more clarity so it’s not quite as subjective as it is now.
