Just a quick correction to this. Looks like there's been a change to Europa League rules so Kinsky could play in the knockout stages for a club from another national association even if he's already played in the competition. Someone would have to be taken off Spurs' list of course first.

What is there to be positive about? 10 losses halfway through the season. Former manager, Nuno, is 16 points clear of Ange. A semi against Liverpool who just battered us 6-3? Manager that is stubborn and doesn't want to adapt to the PL. Before you cry injuries. Most of the big wins this season were when Romero and VDV were missing. Half of the injuries are players that he wasn't giving mins to.

Been to a few games this season, and this was the best game I’ve seen. Felt quite sick when I saw how weak (on paper) the team was, but blown away by the stirring performance. Morning Ali. Thanks. The ref was being mugged off by Newcastle for the entire game. It was a disgraceful officiating performance. An attempt at a levy out chant was drowned out by the stadium, an attempt at a boo clapped down at halftime. There are a small number of instafans that turn up everywhere but the real world fans will agree with you 100%. This was the ‘in form’ team and our kids and third team. Brilliant performance overall. Ali - Ive been a TH fan for over 50 years - coached football at a high level and understand the very difficult balancing act of wanting to play a certain way and then getting in the players to do this - its does not happen overnight. I fully back Ange and expect to see a completely different outcome with a fully fit squad not to mention replacements that can also fill the void correctly! On another note the Press Conferences are getting so predictable and obvious - no wonder Ange looks so frustrated... the same questions week after week. As a former coach I would love to ask him how many players he feels he is away from his perfect squad to allow for playing his football and allowing for injuries etc - HE WILL KNOW THIS.... This would give us supporters some idea of their planning and timeline. When you play a certain way you know exactly what you want and how many new players you need to cover each area and every eventuality. Good video as always.

I was pleasantly surprised by Bergvalls performance yesterday. As a Swede who’ve been following allsvenskan I had my reservations about how well he would do in the premier league. I felt a lot of people hyped him up far too much. After that Galatasaray game I was convinced he still wasn’t ready for this level but since then he has seemingly improved. To start in the premier league as an 18 year old against good opposition and performing well makes me excited for the future!

With all thats happening at spurs right now has consolidated my desire for Ange to be a success, it really urks me when people call for the head of the manager without taking into account mitigating circumstances. This period of injuries and together with the virus is unprecedented. I do wonder though with the decision to bring in a keeper as the first new face when so many other areas perhaps should be priority, however hopefully he turns out to be a worldie, although my heart would have loved to see Brandon succeed. I'm sure at the moment we are carrying a curse at the club, maybe Glenn could help out with this lol.

After seeing the starting line up yesterday I feared for the worst but it was a really good performance from the team. Lots of positives. Bergvall, Spence, Grey and Austin all did well. And the introduction of Son, Maddison and Bisouma ensured dominance of the 2nd half.
@rohank1982Күн бұрын
The performance was much better than expected. You picked out the players really stood up. The issue is bar Gray, Bergvall Spence and Austin weren’t trusted enough earlier in the season which is where all the injuries come from in defence. This point seems conveniently omitted when he talks about injuries and lack of rotation available. Happy to see what he can do the rest of the season but think he probably isn’t coach to bring success but hope I’m wrong. The performances in the Europa will show where we are as we should win that competition with this squad with the correct management of the squad across competitions

Watched the game and i was smiling all game. Pundits had Newcastle beating Spurs by a big score due to how Spurs are and with a new GK who has never played a PL game b4. Yet it was Spurs who could have won the match. Radu playing even though he was sick , Gray playing the full 90 whilst sick. Spence who was cast as an outcasts by the former manger stepping up. Playing as a CB yet Newcastle hardly threaten in the second half. Bragavel was outstanding. These player's keep playing , they keep thier hands up , thier own fans have bood them , other fans laughing at them and pundits slating the manger yet these player's keep thier heads up and keep playing. When Spurs get through this these players will have a much stronger mindset. Ange all through this has kept positive and thats why he is a winner. His whole philosophy is about being postive and staying positive. Its what life is about. Dont cry over spilt milk clean it up and keep moving. Never respected a manager as much as i do Ange and also the player's

Law 12: 2. If a Goal is Created After a Handball in the Build-Up: The goal is disallowed if a player gains possession or control of the ball after it touches their hand/arm (even if accidental) and this immediately creates a scoring opportunity or results in a goal.

@@brucescammells2817 I copied & pasted from ChatGPT (so perhaps not?) "Under the **Laws of the Game**, specifically **Law 12** (Fouls and Misconduct), the rules for handball are clear regarding goal-scoring situations: 1. **If the Ball Goes Directly into the Goal from a Handball:** A goal is disallowed if the ball directly touches the hand/arm of a player (even if accidental) and then goes into the goal. 2. **If a Goal is Created After a Handball in the Build-Up:** The goal is disallowed if a player gains possession or control of the ball after it touches their hand/arm (even if accidental) and this immediately creates a scoring opportunity or results in a goal. 3. **Deflections or Natural Positions:** If the ball accidentally touches a player's hand/arm in a way that is deemed not deliberate and their arm is in a natural position (e.g., close to their body or not making them unnaturally larger), and the handball does not directly lead to a goal, it is not considered an offense. ### Summary: A handball that contributes to a goal is only allowed if it is accidental, the arm position is deemed natural, and the player does not score or create an immediate scoring opportunity from the handball."

Accepting a slightly dubious defeat there are many positives. Bergvall, Gray are the future of Spurs and that future looks great. Add Spence, Sarr and some others and it’s very positive . We played some great stuff and pinned Newcastle back . Let’s get the players back and some additions and see where we are. For me I think we’ll be fine. Better than fine as I believe we are building something special

I've played for 42 years and ANY "incidental" hand ball that results in a turnover of play or even more, leads to a goal has ALWAYS been ruled to be a stopped ball at the least, drop ball for a restart. Simple! It isn't up for debate yet this whole VAR influence always seems to get it wrong. Considering how we're sitting with illness & injuries I felt like that team actually played to their potential......minus Timo Werner. As for Austin...he to me was more of a goal keeper for set pieces than anyone we've had between the posts since early Lloris. Give that guy more chances I say!

Yep. Agree entirely, ball to hand changing the direction or movement of the ball... Drop ball/indirect free kick etc... how joelintons was not handball, but later on burns was a handball, that he dodged a second yellow for? The inconsistency in subjective decisions is so bad... We have to give more powers back to the referees and var is taking so long, perhaps we just have refs ask to have replays on the stadium screens for any contentious decisions.

4 years with no football! Is this normal for third choice keepers? I can't see the upside unless he pushes on after this promising start. Surely they should play one keeper in each cups at least in the games against lower league opponents just to give them game time for situations like this

Big Ange In its a project that we have all seen the progress and progress regardless of results shows success will come if we stay strong and support big Ange forget about the Monday banter and get behind the team

Another great vlog Alasdair , thanks. Gray has been great, though he has played every game for the last 2.5 months. Just hope he remains fit , especially if he is ill also. Hoping by the beginning of February, with returning players and hopefully new players we will improve immensely? Just a little concerned with all the negativity towards the manager , team from so called supporters, other social media outputs, talksport etc. I think every other team without 4 centre halves, goalkeeper, plus forwards that could give others a rest would struggle. Look at Woolwich without Rice and Odogard, City without Dias and Rodri. Both struggled, so let’s back the team🤷♂️.

Hope we can hold our nerve the next few weeks and Ange too who is losing his composure a bit. A couple of astute signings and players back we'll be okay

You are right about context and Ange is right about narrative. As I am sure you appreciate journalists want stories and angles. The 'Spursy' tag is the most obvious one our critics want to keep alive. Once there is blood in the water pens get sharpened in anticipation of a feast of words and column inches swell nicely. Add in the bias of a certain South London club's devoted media fans (who would delight in us ditching another manager and being forced to start from square one again) and it's a perfect narrative storm. The disastrous nature of our current reality doesn't help either!

The problem is not yesterday. It was the awful ( and full strength ) defeats against Palace and Ipswich. And the poxy draw @ Leicester too. As three examples. The rot started in these inept performances. Now it’s injuries and it is excuses on top of excuses. Sleep walking to becoming the next Everton. And too many people are not willing to recognise it’s an ownership model that fails season on season.

And don’t forget we were less than a few minutes away from getting beat by Coventry, having previously managed just one shot in the whole game. Bluffercoglu would’ve had a job to talk his way out of that one.

Totally agree, I just hope there are three worse teams in the premiership than us. We may need them come May.

Solanke kicked a ball into his hand and the goal was disallowed, did he deliberately handle the ball? Don't think so.
@Klinsmann1985Күн бұрын
The rules are zero tolerance for the person that scores the goal so it's a bit different. I still think yesterday was handball though, shouldn't have been given a goal

Honestly what even is a handball these days. In real time we saw the arm moved to deflect the ball in real time right in front of us, not given. We see the dan burn handball in front of us when on a yellow not given. The potential penalty one i didnt see in the ground and not watched match back so that one might have been more accidental but it really seems like it is only handball when it is one of our players arms it hits. Also astonished joelinton got away with so many deliberate fouls to break up our attacks in the first half. Was a really bizarre refereeing performance BUT fair play to our team given the situation they were in with injuries and illness they put in a shift and deserved something from the game

Shocking to not include Reguilón and Spence more. Capable players that could’ve protected first team players. Diabolical squad management

Not really regulion is leaving and wants to go. Couldn't get a buyer. Why would ange give a player who didn't want to be here minutes ? Spence I agree with he should of used him more but hindsight is a wonderful thing. Also the injuries are a spurs thing for years. We need a revamp and new medical staff imo it's been terrible since even the poch era
@epec20Күн бұрын
Agreed. Ange in supporters say, it's a rebuild ! OK, so why does the manager need his best players 100 percent of the time? Seems to me Ange was going for every title, then when the shit hits the fan, it's a rebuild. He broke his players by ovwr training and ovwr playing. Not rocket science is it?
@chrisb5008Күн бұрын
Was thinking the same about Archie, this experience - albeit amongst some poor results - will stand him and the club in great stead for the future. He can be a brilliant no.6 for us going forward. I’m praying for some positive results soon so we can break through this tough period and see the benefits on the other side.
@onyeukegbu-ny8gsКүн бұрын
I hope Levy for once allows this rebuild to take place. Letting Ange go would be a major backwards step. Forget the league this season we've blooded Bergvall Spence Gray Radushin Moore amongst a serve injury crisis.

I think so, too. Honestly, Forster has no business playing in a top flight league. At times, he looks completely lost. Giving up the ball to Mo Salah on his very first touch after gifting 2 goals in the prior match just shows he has no idea what's going on. And, so what if he's old. Austin needs to play.
@indrajitadvani3742Күн бұрын
Thank you Alasdair. As always you hit the nail on the head. Bergwall, Gray and Spence in particular were excellent and bode well for the future. Werner was appalling. I was sat right in front of him when he seemed to win a ball that went spinning to the touchline - we were all sure he could have got it had he had the compunction to give chase but he didn't. Either he didn't bother or he didn't believe he could. It pretty much sums up his whole stint at N17. Totally agree with you that Big Ange continues to have the support of both the players and the crowd. I thought Newcastle were very good and very well organised in the first half but I was very surprised that they became so withdrawn in the second half. Our lads should get so much credit for that. You are absolutely right about the handball off Joelinton - it basically put it on a plate for Newcastle to equalise be totally changing the movement of the ball. How on earth can that be allowed? Furthermore, Joelinton should have got a yellow for elbowing Bergwall in the head. I didn't see it in game but did on MOTD. They tried to juxtapose that against Kulu's clash with Gordon, which to me was a coming together of bodies/heads. And of course why didn't dirty Burn get a yellow for his handball? Nor did the MOTD highlights show the umpteen number of stoppages that Newcastle players manufactured in the second half. Yes the ref added a lot of minutes but you can't replace rhythm that that dirty tactic broke.

The rule was made to keep the flow of play uninturrpted, but not to change the result of a match. English refereeing is a disgrace. The three cases were game changers.

Would be interesting to see Pedro(RW) and Djed(RB), as both Pedro and Djed are good at getting back to defend and are quality on attack. I seen a few people suggest this before.
@nosher_4114Күн бұрын
Ange must be the unluckiest manager ever. We should’ve won this & every other game by 3 or 4 goals at least. The fact the Newcastle keeper only had one save to make in the whole of the 2nd half, was just an illusion.
@doughill1945Күн бұрын
some truth in that. We never looked like winning after gifting their first goal playing out from the back. Its not too bad doing that towards the wings but asking for trouble when you do it in the centre of the goal. Bonkers is a word another has used. Seems several teams try it and suffer the consequences.

Something needs to be done about players going down with a pretend injury to diisrupt the game.. A 100% perfect assessment from Ali. ( I predict the handball rule will now change ...after yet another decision goes against Spurs ) Austin motm? Then i read we have signed a keeper!
