I came here about 3 years ago for tips learning this for a doors tribute that I'm now currently in. This really helped. For the hi hat part at the end of the first bar I mimicked the feel of the Toms but with snare and hi hat and the dynamics you were talking about. I need to go back and revisit after watching this again! PS I think John improvised the bass drum in almost every song he played. It's so difficult to pick out in practically every song!!! Mainly because it's so quiet as you mentioned!!

Densmore's touch on this is amazing (pun intended with the title), love the musicality. Thanks for the lesson!

Love this selection. One of the biggest surprises me so far in seeking out drum music is how damn tough Densmore is to play. I always thought of him as a very basic drummer, but every piece I've seen so far has been filled with crazy improvisations and techniques I'd not seen before. I can play 'Break on Thru' pretty well, and up to speed, but play along with music? Not even close. I fall apart at once. I haven't developed enough skill yet to maintain anything even remotely technical for any length of time. Looking forward to this one, though. Soon as I get "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" under control, I'm all over it. This channel is awesome. Provides cohesiveness to my practice. Without it, I'd be floundering in drum limbo. Or something. Thanks, Rob.
