Thank you for another great vid!! My curiosity for the RC600 is increasing! Dumb question: you don't need to bring the ipad to the gig with the osc after you save everything into the rc ? Did the rc with well with the boss gtk-1000/core?

Hi Derek - you will still need the ipad for touch osc - the buttons on screen are what you use to trigger those things to happen in the rc600. Otherwise you can buy a midi pedal to do the same thing with your feet as touch osc

correct! - there's a setting whether the rhythm goes into the loops or direct out - off the top of my head I can't remember what menu it's tucked into - i think under the output settings. Drop me a note if you can't find it and i'll reply when I've got the unit in front of me!

yes there is. Not by my unit to guide you exactly where, but reach out if you get stuck and I'll look it up. Somewhere in settings is an option to include rhythm in loop 'yes/no' - need to set that to 'yes', and then also check that you include that input for each loop track (eg track one might have just vocals going into it), you'd need to then choose which tracks have the rhythm going into it also. Hope that helps! Both settings need to be sorted, but works great. ...also making a note that a video on this might actually be pretty helpful haha!

Great video, thank you so much! A question, did you get the RC 600 to also work on the osc? I’m trying to figure out a way that if I switch a nob on the pedal itself that it will also apply to the osc. That way they both send and receive midi and synced. Possible? Let me know…

heya! This is an excellent question/comment - and sadly no I haven't found a way for the OSC screen to match changes on the RC600. When you click on an effect in the RC600 it doesn't actually send any midi information normally - so there is nothing to tell OSC that the effect is on. You may be able to do this with assigns - assign the effect button you're switching on to also send midi information. It would use an assign for each one with the only benefit (possibly) being able to keep track of what is on, but may do what you're after.

Hey David, love your videos. Thank you. Just have a question around midi connection to the rc 600, have you had any issues with it? I have just tried to connect a midi keyboard which is coming through instrument 2, connected through an audio input to a sound machine to midi keyboard - and when you turn it on, the whole Rc 600 just stops making sound

heya! I'm not quite sure I understand your question so just to clarify at first - if you are plugging into an instrument input (jack input on the rc600) - this is just an instrument input (nothing to do with midi etc). If this is correct - I would test that you are getting sound etc as normal from the jack lead by plugging directly into a speaker or similar, or by plugging into instrument 1 and just checking there is signal etc. Also - check your stereo settings for instruments etc as well - it might be trying to share the input of instr 1. Let me know if I understood your setup correctly then we'll go from there! :)

heya! Just replied to your other comment - all of it works and if using the patches for the rc600 provided it's all setup for you. I also explain how to setup key change and changing the kits in this video (which use assigns) so that you can do it yourself though. Just click to the appropriate part of the video - eg setting up the kit changes is at 6:12. 🥰

This sounds like a stupid comment, probably, but… When I downloaded, Ross Gallagher template everything worked on it, except for all the elements that needed to be assigned, which I did, and then it all worked. That includes all the track selections and even his track selection for single and multimode led you comfortably to memory 99 and 98 where he keeps them. I kind of hope your template would do the same. With your great template, which I’d love to make work, you can hear the individual drum patches, but the activate rhythm and activate master volume and other generalised controls, don’t work even before I start working my way through whatever the assigns are ? Is there a reason for that and where can I find an easy guide to following where all the assigns are that I need to do.

heya! Not a stupid comment at all, seems just a misconception about how this works. This setup is designed to work with the RC600 patches included, so all the assigns are made already. If you only open up the the Touch OSC file, then pretty much none of the buttons will work as they require assigns to tell them what to do when you press each button! So your RC600 will be receiving the messages, but it seems you haven't set up what they should do in the RC600, and aren't using the included patches in the download. - hopefully that clears up what's going on but let me know! Great point with having a guide for setting up the assigns manually - hadn't thought of that because it's all included by loading the patches onto the RC600! (saving you from having to do any of that haha). It did include how to set the assigns manually in this video though so you can follow along for each one - but that's pretty tedious haha!

cheers Rick! yeah wired works beautifully. You need a camera adapter - amzn.to/3QYPZ7l (for example but make sure to choose the right one eg lightning/usb c for your ipad or tablet). The difference is very subtle and 90% of the time you'd be fine with the Widi Master connection, just find it's a touch irregular for me - but I also do have an older ipad which may be more the issue to be fair!

Thanks for the work to put this together. I am up and running using a Surface Pro 7 and USD MIDI cable. I used your templete and altered it mainly for drum interface and instrument level control. I want to be able to control the rythym pattern via TouchOSC but I can't find any commands under assings on RC600 to send the MIDI command. Is this function possible? Thanks a millions for the videos and media to get this up and running.

most welcome! Sadly the only affect you can have at this stage on the rhythm pattern is switching between A/B/C/D - fingers crossed this might change down the track with future updates from Boss! Glad you've got things up and running though!

David, first of all this is incredible and thank you so much for sharing. I do have a question. Currently I am using my iPad with OnSong connected the USB cord to the 600. This controls my various memory locations & tempo. If I wanted to add this to my mix, if I use a second iPad using the midi master, would it conflict with what I’m doing with the iPad currently?

hey Bruce - wish I could answer this definitively... I don't believe receiving MIDI info via the USB excludes the unit from receiving MIDI on the specific 5 pin, but I don't have a second ipad to test this theory! I'll run two separate apps on one ipad (one wired/one via the WIDI Master bluetooth and see if we still get results with each using the different connection). Provided that works you should be golden. (I'll add another reply to this comment chain).

Similarly I want to make 6 different guitar fx patches to play over the six different parts of the song. I want the respective guitar fx patches to activate when i kick in different loops. Is it possible to do that?

@@beenay18 essentially yes you can do all of that. It has 99 patches which you can have setup as suits for each one. You can make 6 loops and store them easy, and you can make 6 different guitar patches - BUT - with the guitar patches, you'll have to be a little bit selective how you use them. You have 4 fx banks per patch or preset, and each bank has 4 fx. So to get 6 guitar tones - you setup one bank fx as amp sim and a delay which is always on, and then switch between an overdrive and distortion as your guitar tone change etc (but probs not in that order haha). In terms of having the guitar tones switch as you change sections in the song - again yes you can do this, but it requires good knowledge of the pedal and using assigns that trigger your guitar tone changes. Depending on your song structure and setup this could work incredibly smoothly or it could be frustrating tbh. basics are yep you can do what you suggested, but until you start diving into actually doing it, it'll be hard to understand the restrictions and if it really works how you'd like. Hope that helps in some way!

They are per memory. Easiest way is to set the assigns up for one memory, copy it to another and then change the parameters u want to change for the second. :) (the notes and program changes are global of course.)

hey Peter, have had various chats on this, and it's not a basic setting option you can make happen... **However** If it's super important for certain things, you should be able to use an assign to send a midi cc comand to each button on the RC600. This is theoretical at this stage, and of course you would lose assigns for this, but you would assign the for example FX1 pedal, to also send the midi command when you press it. I'll test it at some point soon, but you'd likely only end up using it for certain things that are super important to you and that you can't particularly tell from listening etc, as you'll chew through assigns very quickly.

Now I'm wondering is it possible to set control fader so that it's work like 100 is the original of the pedal levels and when you ad level it increase only the original of rc 600's levels. Like track 1 is 60 in the memory and when I ad 10 on in the touch osc it will make 60 to 70... I hope that is should be possible somehow with relative response, but I couldn't figure it out yet

Not sure quite on your explanation what you want, but you can set '0' on the fader to be 60 and '100/max' on the fader to be 70 etc. If you look at what I have setup on the rhythm fader you'll see that it only goes to 100 or so, rather than 200 and can work from there.

I would like to use the control like it's plus and minus to the original volume as my touch osc got no information where my levels are in my different memories. So i would like to use like it's a proportion/ percentage of my original volume. 100% means I'm using the originally programmed track level and if make it to 110% it should make 60 to 1,1x60:) But I found a different way to solve that I want, it's just a bit more work. I created more pages and this way created presets according to my memories in my rc600. May with I can send a video to make it more easy to understand what was my goal:)

OFF TOPIC, but hey, what do you guys know about paying fees for music, as you play covers in public, earning money maybe - is there a point where an artist has the option to do his own version and is that fore excluded from the fee - and how would it be if he´d use a normal playback /original cover? Of course, this depends on the continent/country, too.. thanks

a cover in any form usually has fee's collected and passed on by the licensing company in that country to the original artist. Even if it's your own twist on somebody else's song. Same thing with Spotify etc - you can get a license to release your own cover of somebody else's song, but part of the money received will go to the original artist.

it won't work with the RC-2 sorry! It is based on sending MIDI messages to control the pedal.
