Because they are tactile, reliable and easy to use even in bad conditions. Touchscreens in cars are a cancer on the industry.

I understand the need for screens, but I give up actual physical controls. That's why I never pulled a trigger on a Tesla, I need actually feel what I'm doing while driving 70 miles per hour

I would love to see "touch button screens" in the future, which could be a screen made up of chicklet button tiles. Developers would be able to program the buttons visuals and use some or all of them, allowing the rest to be off or with other visuals tiled across them. Think clamshell design with screen above and chicklet screen below. Gives all the options. And yes I know there are keyboards that can have customized LED key caps. This would be taking that to a whole new level ❤
