For some reason KZbin always pushes keyboard content and reviews at me. I'm not sure why, I'm not interested in basically anything in this video, but here we are. I use a Dvorak, ps/2, buckling-spring keyboard from unicomp. It has 4-key(?) roll over and I only use it to occasionally input text. For gaming I use a razer naga trinity + nostromo combo or a controller or dual joystick depending on the game. All that said, these videos are well made and fun to watch - I'm just not sure why they get pushed to me in the first place.

I got a Nuphy Halo75 with Rose Glacier tactile switches, and lubed the switches+modded a few of the stabilizers (most of them were surprisingly secure). Since then I replaced the switches with lubed Baby Raccoon linear switches and slightly heavier retro PTB keycaps. I bought the GMMK Pro while it was on sale for Black Friday and am pretty happy with it. I recognize it isn't the best, but my keyboard needed replacing and I don't really have the time (needed keyboard) nor space to just wait around or have multiple options. So the perma-in stock is a major bonus that just can't be discounted. I came from an old razer chroma. I also bought their lubed panda switches, so far so good. I have noticed a few keys that don't seem to activate consistently. Not sure if that is a keyboard/pcb issue, or a common thing when you buy switches where a few in the pack are going to be DOA.
@innovativeadvertising6463 Жыл бұрын
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience with the GMMK Pro. It's great that the perma-in stock option was a major plus for you. I bought the Keychron Q3, but decided I need to keep my wrists working for the coming decades, so I switched to the Keychron K3 (RGB + hot swappable keychron switches) and loved it so much I got another for myself (instead of work). Initially I missed the keypad and the insert key (as a programmer I sometimes need it for a shortcut), but the keypad was just something I had to learn, and the missing Insert key can be used via `Fn + Del`. I now hate larger keyboards (like the Q3) - they're just too chonkey for me!

It seems like tons of the boutique mechanical keyboards have backlights, but they don't have key caps that allow light to shine through. So you can see light coming through the gaps between keys, but in a dark room I expect you would not be able to read the key legends. I'd love to see a roundup of keyboard with well-designed backlighting. If it's RGB, it should have good software to manage it. If it's white, it should present as white and not blue or green or yellow. And above all, it should be practically useful and usable in low-light conditions.

I've watched so many of your videos and I'm interested in keyboards but I somehow don't get it. Almost all of them look the same and have the same layout. It's so boring and borderline bad for sb like me who wants a 96 or fullsize keyboard because I actually need the numpad. Also not a single mention about ISO layouts. I don't want to critize you in any way but the keyboard community as a whole. There is so much we could do but it's literally always TKL ANSI and low-profile doesn't really exist at all. And I also want to mention the pricing. Holy sh.. 100$ for a pair of keycaps? What the actual f? Excuse me but who is seriously buying keycaps for over 50$. They remain pieces of plastic and they definitly aren't worth more than 50$. I don't think anybody will spend more than that but I could be wrong tho.

I'm typing this on an NZXT Mini TKL right now, but it's my first mechanical and I got it for half price, so I'm a pretty big fan so far. I think that, as someone who's upgrading from an incredibly cheapo rattly membrane keyboard, literally anything would've been good, but I think the main reasons I'm not bothered by the issues you pointed out in that video are 1: I don't plan on taking this keyboard apart until I stop using it, 2: I think you might've cut it a little more slack if you'd gotten it for $60, and 3: I realized that I'm probably gonna need to build a split keyboard to prevent hand strain anyway, so at WORST, I basically just paid $60 for an OK set of caps and switches (which... I think is a decent price?) But yeah, all the problems you had in your video about it are definitely real; I just happen to have other priorities.

So far how has been going? Im thinking on getting a keychron but I havent really decide, and the K8 is on the list. I plan to use it for gaming and light office work

@@nameless7211 I use it for gaming and my work. I love it so far. I don't play many competitive games though so I can't speak to that. Its definitely the best for office work though.

As an avid OSRS player, had no idea you built Settled a keyboard. The HCIM logo in the corner is incredible!

Your nerdy snobbery was pretty good enough. Keep working on it 😌

Built a Keychron V series recently as a budget keeb for work. I did not like it stock so I have been doing a lot of experimenting with it. Keychron is now selling PC and brass plates for these so I'm hopeful those will be an improvement. Ended up adding o-rings to the tray mount posts which was a big improvement, and more o-rings between the top and bottom case mounts to make it sound less hollow. The top case is a bit flimsy and somehow I cracked it during one of many re-assemblies.

I was planning to get keychron Q2 but thank you for convincing me to try other options. I hope you drop a video about 65% keyboards this 2023.

My main concern is as a writer the letters fading on the keyboards. I am currently going through three a year. So switches etc are not really necessary. Just a keyboard where the letters don't vanish after 3 or 4 months. All suggestions are welcome. Oh, and writers don't make much so price is definitely a factor.

Gotta put an asterisk to the whole "There's a million different options out there" thing: There's a million different options out there* *if you're looking for QWERTY and almost entirely exclude 100% size
