Toughest Australia Outback Cycling Dirt Road Camping

I was cycling in Oodnadatta Track, Australian Outback dirt road. And I've done lots of wild camping. It was the toughest road but worth seeing the most beautiful deserted place.

I'm Australian. I have lived in the outback in the past. I have ridden many long cycling journeys in Asia (thousands of km each time) BUT you are on another level entirely. You are absolutely awesome and I would never have the perseverance to cycle across Australia. It is too empty and harsh for me. You have my total respect.

Total respect. Many do not realise that you have to carry 10 to 20 kilos of water in many parts of Australia. Makes saving 500 grams on bike weight rather irrelevant.

Watching that boney dingo walk by tells me all I need to know about how harsh it must've been out there for you. The few of us educated Australians who travel a a bit know exactly where William Creek is.......You are really out there is some serious desert. Take care and make sure U sign in to the few hotels you pass so police know where you are in case of emergencies. DON'T GO OFF THE DIRT ROAD if U get a flat tyre and try to get help. ALWAYS STAY ON THE DIRT ROAD because even though your think you are nowhere there is always cars and trucks passing by........Once U head off the road you will easily get lost.......Stay safe and have fun.
