I mean it was pretty easy to understand it was an act. Also we can see Flower hiding Beetle in his cape when the king approaches at the beginning. I mean during the marriage, we don't know for sure that Beetle can turn into a humanoid form, but since he has the same colors in the beetle and humanoid forms, we can understand its him, and that he's the Flower's ally. Also his acting was pretty bad.
