it depends on the bullet shape, zun reuses hitboxes a lot, as do most shmup devs, also these hitboxes are almost always circles or rectangles, cuz theyre very simple and efficient when it comes to collision math, and when u have so many bullets on the screen, you gotta cut corners so it wont have framerate issues or bullet slowdown for example: big bubble bullets have a very small hitbox, okuu's suns have the same hitbox as the sprite, as are clownpiece's moons and those tiny rhombus shaped bullets most bullets with a glowing outline do not include the glowing outline in their hitbox the simple answer is to memorize the hitboxes by dying to an attack a lot

Bullet Hells usually have very small hitboxes for the sake of fairer visibility (though that is sometimes played with by having extremely large bullets with a good bunch of safe space, turning them into a visibility riddle where more dangerous things can be obstructed by those large bullets)
