Interestingly enough, in ULiL, if Koishi defeats Byakuren in VS. Mode, she'll mention Minamitsu visiting the Hell of Blood Pools. She apparently "still can’t forget the taste."

Murasa is *particularly* cool in this game, because Koishi foreshadowed Murasa's past dealing with the Former Hell of Blood Pools... in a win quote in HOPELESS MASQUERADE of all games. Like Murasa coming back to her apparent point of death has been a loose plot thread hanging for 10 years!! Bruh??? Damn, everyone's already mentioned the fun fact about the ULiL win quote. This is what I get for living in a time zone unfit for these uploads. Honestly, Murasa was barely used to her full extent here. Her up attack does so much damage, that's the one thing you should actively be using when you're free to. Okuu's fight is just embarrassing though. You can power through her even on Hard here. Also I just remembered you fight at least one bird in every story. That's cool.

Murasa time! The super high-execution high-DPS character. Turns out bashing people over the head with an anchor freakin' hurts. Her highest DPS strats come from her up attack anchor spin, used either on the ground or led into from the spin she goes into when dashing at a boss you also hit with the anchor throw for the dash (You can also cancel this into her absorb, which can be ended immediately, allowing you to spin again very quickly, IIRC), and from doing the anchor throw where she spins the anchor while pulling it back toward herself. Basically, spin = good. Note after rewatching the speedrun to make sure, highest DPS against grounded opponents is actually what looks like aerial up attack -> aerial down attack (not down dash) -> absorb, not just aerial up attack -> absorb. Forgot about the down attack part. And dear lord that DPS is high. She beats some fights before the boss functionally gets to attack at all; Marisa technically gets a hitbox or two on screen for a few frames, but like, she doesn't actually get to do anything. In total, it takes, or rather took, Murasa 2 minutes, 31 seconds IGT to beat her *entire route*. No other character beats the game in under 3 minutes, and the only character who beats the game in under 3:15 only does so with their bad ending route. Murasa was over 45 seconds faster than the next fastest character if you only count true ending for the original final character. If you're wondering about those past tenses, it's time to explain boat glitch! If you defeat a phase of a boss such that they land on but then slide off the edge of the boat, their next phase will be skipped. Why? Who knows! But it was something Murasa used in addition to her bonkers damage output to beat the game even faster pre 1.13 (I think it was 1.13 that fixed it, but it might've lasted until 1.14. Not a Murasa runner, myself.). In the later patches, though, the friction of the boat was massively increased, so it's significantly harder to perform. IIRC it *does* still work, but there's no quick or easy way to set it up, so going for it will lose time anyway. Just for funsies, the characters that get functionally 0 attacks off against Murasa in the speedrun: Marisa, Utsuho. The characters that get 1 attack per phase or fewer: Kogasa, Kanako, Yuuma The characters that get at least 1 attack per phase, but not more than 2: The Yorigami sisters, entirely because their first spell card's first attack is just a dive. If you wanna count each pair of pillars of blood as its own attack for Yuuma's final spell, she does get 3 pairs of pillars of, but I count the cycle itself as an attack. Murasa got full charge by that point (water mechanics were pretty heavily changed in 1.13, so IDK if she'd still have that now), and used aerial spell card while right on top of Yuuma to do massive burst damage here. That's how she beat Yuuma final so fast. Next up, we have the Yorigami sisters! They... suck.

Tip for the final spell: if you time it right, you can use her up air attack (the spinning anchor attack, not her dash) to jump right over Yuuma's unblockable kanjis. It only works for the first 2, but by that point you're left with all the necessary dashes to graze through the blood projectiles without getting hit even once.

Playing as Murasa is such a novel idea; her being the "superheavy" is absolutely hilarious too. Not to mention the Myouren crew in general (sans Kogasa) knows a lot about Makai and Hell, so seeing them involved in the plot is really interesting.

I love Murasa in this game, she is by far my favorite character to play! Not gonna lie I never had any issue with playing Murasa. The only patterns I struggled with were Yuuma's last 2 spells, as one of them is a visual mess and the other one goes on for a really long time. But even those two I've managed to find a way to do them without taking a hit consistently (I have a video of that, although it was also before blood started damaging you). But for the rest of the bosses I found Murasa pretty simple. You just have to plan what to do ahead of time instead of improvising dodging and attacking on the fly. The Murasa vs Okuu matchup is hilariously unbalanced, not really sure what the devs were thinking. Okuu has very little health so Murasa melts her, but if you slow down to try to see how Murasa would have to ddoge the patterns, you quickly find out Murasa is not equipped well for dodging anything in this fight. With her half screen dashes you will always either run into Okuu's big balls or the fire at the side of the screen.

Man, it seems that 2D fighters have a trend of "everyone keeps failing to solve the Incident until the end", since AoCF. Last time, it took a plan by Yukari to solve the Incident. This time, well, we'll get to THAT later. At this rate, we'll end up with a game where everyone, Reimu included, fails to solve the Incident (and tend to lose to the culprit), and the final scenario isn't with whoever beats the culprit, but with the culprit pulling a Kokoro and kicking everyone's asses.

Murasa's Yuuma Pt 2 fight was an utter nightmare for me. It took forever, a ton of attempts...I basically had to lab her out. That final spell man. It really is something else for Murasa, and is a prime example of the visibility issues this fight can have. It can be so hard to keep track of everything.

Yeah...Utsuho's just a liiiiiittle bit of a Glass Cannon. Her health was low in the Reimu fight as well but it's harder to take advantage of there because Reimu doesn't pack quite as much punch and it's a bit harder to lander her harder-hitting attacks on Utsuho. Next time: idiots who are awkward to play as in a completely different way!

And with that out of the way (a bit disappointed you didn't abuse the hell out of the up attack like you did with Reimu, that one attack alone does bonkers damage), next up are the Yorigami sisters! Ngl, I actually kinda like playing as them I never really use the oil aspect of their playstyle effectively, but I never really need to Joon is a straight up brawler Basic combo, then uppercut the hell out of defense broken enemies, and toss Shion + dive bomb the sh** out of them when the guard is up They're probably my favorite to play as actually Reimu was basic, Marisa was janky, Kanako was boring, and Murasa was death For the Yorigamis, I feel like I' actually playing a fighting game again Also a first cameo from a very old fan favorite character
